I thought England should have had a penalty when Sterling went down, but afterwards they showed it from different angles, and you could see it was a Pires Dive, ie he tripped himself up. Strange really to be celebrating; we're bottom of the group, haven't scored a goal yet. Funny old game.
I think there was contact but Sterling was running out of pitch to do anything with the ball , would of been harsh imo[/QUOTE]
Ps after seeing the mess up Leicester Square last night I now realise the day trippers that leave all their rubbish on the beach down here must be Scottish
Few things about International tournaments annoy me more than teams not trying to win games - in order to finish in a supposedly 'more desirable' position in their group than 1st (or as high as they can). I'm not sure it even happens, or if it's just an invention to cover poor performances when they happen.
Germany v Austria played out a 0-0 to ensure progressing to the knock out stages. Spain '82 possibly.
That was why the dreadful "second group stage" was never used again in the World Cup Finals. The most shameful day in International football history.
We are totalling lacking any creativity in the centre of midfield. Rice and Phillips are defensive midfielders. I would drop either Rice or Phillips and put Mount there and I would play Grealish. I would also drop Sterling and play Sancho.
I have heard that Man City have made a 100 million pound take it or leave it offer to Spurs. If I was Daniel Levy I would bite their hand off.
1-1. I think Wales have developed some sort of mentality and togetherness that enables them to do well at major tournaments and in Gareth Bale they have a truly world class talent who is a danger to any team in the world. Great respect for the Welsh, unlike some other nations in the UK
agreed. Keep Rice if we need some air defence, if not keep Phillips for his passing. Plus I’d put in Calvert Lewin instead of Kane.
