Confirmed: Saints sign Mohamed Elyounoussi

Have watched a bit of him on youtube now as I'd not heard of him outside of playstation. Definately not Boufal type. Has great feet and control but doesn't look to be a showboat player and has an unselfish record. Not really Mane either as he doesnt rely on his pace in the same way. I'm impressed with the little I've seen, he looks like a thinking footballer, plays for the team with good passing and very clever movement. I hesitate to do this but he reminds me of Salah. Sorry folks, I done it now.

So we've had a foreign article and a YouTube video....we just need some dodgy translations and we are in.

 

I already posted my first impression to hearing we were signing Armstrong on his thread. It's a hard one to get excited by for me. Box to box CM who's not particularly highly rated and is effectively blocking some of our youth unless we sell Davis. We have JWP, Davis, Hoj and lemina competing for CM positions along with Hesketh for AM. If he was a guinine creative AM i might be able to get more excited. I will wait and see though to make a real judgement.

We have been lacking a fast winger with only really Sims and Redmond, with tadic and boufal apparently going I think that leaves only Redmond on the left so a fast left winger is very welcome. So with that im more excited by Elyounoussi.

Armstrong could be brilliant while Elyounoussi a flop, these are just first impressions and the type of player I want.

 

Ok Vm, I was genuinely asking as I can’t really judge on either player. I have seen Armstrong play but only twice and a couple of seasons back.

The bit that I hooked on to was you saying you could get behind this one “because been waiting for a speedy winger for a long time” yet I thought we have those and have been waiting for the attacking midfielder even longer!

Sounded a little like casting judgement on Armstrong based on other people’s say so. That’s all. It’s something that happens a lot on forums. Comments gather pace.

I am casting judgement based on what other people say. That's why I keep saying I will wait to see them play.

It's just from what I've read he's a CM not an AM so you're still waiting. A davis replacement. We have 4 players who play that position.

 

We are going to need plenty of new players to cover players leaving and the need for more Strenght in depth.

We just need to sign good players with potential.

I’d rather we did this than paying for over rated, injury prone or coming to end of the career types.

I’d be really happy if we sign him.

Suggestion price is £16-18 million and that Wolfsberg have also offered for him, but his agent is heading to Southampton. Probably a rehash of things posted elsewhere, so apologies if known.

 

Its seems pretty likely to happen now, SSN saying Tadic to Ajax for £18m and Mo in for £16m.

 

One of those that shoots and scores though.

 

He looks like a player who would link up really well with Tadić.

 

Now Boufal has a buddy maybe he'll settle down and the 2 of them will form the partnership of the season?

 

Leicester want him as well so he'll probably go there for geographical reasons

 

It's certainly closer to Norway!....

It’s worth a try. I don’t think we will get much for him or even have trouble offloading him.

Mohamed Elyounoussi’s agent is currently negotiating personal terms with Southampton. The player is expected to fly to England tonight or tomorrow for a medical.
