Well he played in a ‘passing’ Arsenal side for many years, so slightly strange comment. Edit: this has already been said above!
I'm not a great lover of players returning to former clubs, it seldom works out but it might just be a masterstroke. Our bench has been worryingly thin on talent for some time and the thought of bring him on has got to be an improvement on what we currently have?
Good luck to theo, was a panic buy under Big Sam and never played in the right position I feel under Silva and Carlo. He phoned in his performance on Saturday when he came on, knew he was going I bet. A move may reignite him
2-3 hours just for a medical And there was me boasting to Mrs B that I had done 80 minutes of step aerobics, this afternoon.
Looks good on him! Whilst this may well be a failed move that never lives up to its romantic potential - it is worth remembering there is bugger all risk involved and pretty low expectations. Sensible business and I'd love it if he did well with us.
Just for the record, I’m not too worried about the lack of goals for Che... his all round play is looking good and he compliments Danny well. I’m convinced the goals will come.
The more I think about it the more excited I get about this. Always felt he left too early. How lovely to come back and shine as one of the mature players. Welcome back St Theo!
Che is a younger Long. Works hard, off the ball work is excellent. What really makes him a younger Long though is his ability to not hit the target
Happy enough with this. We all know Theo is a good player...perhaps Ralph can get the best out of him. In Theo's interest to do well....if he wants to stay here or (more likely) get himself another good move next season.
Yeah, I’m in agreement with you. His work rate has been good and he has been getting into good positions. His season has started the same way as last season. Getting into scoring positions, but then hitting the post, keeper or a defender diving in to block his shot etc. Once the first goes in, I would expect similar to how he finished last season, but I am happy that, if the goals don’t go in, Theo could be put in to give him a break, should he get too anxious. A couple of times, already, this season he has hit his shot too well, and it has been saved, whereas a scuff shot (like Ings v Burnley) might have gone in. He will come good again.
Even Ralph who is famed for his love of working with younger players has stated how important it is to have good older pros in a squad. yes, you could say he never lived up to the hype of when he left us 15 years ago, but he also hasn’t turned into an egotistical twat despite all the attention he received as a younger player. we shall see if it proves a successful move, but just as I’m happy to see good professionals like Long & Romeu get extended deals, I’m happy to see them arrive(especially at such reasonable expense) get under that learning tree Obafemi
I was about to start moaning about theo signing then i realised i was also about to moan about the lack of experienced players in the team. Then i realised i am referring to transfers specifically; its always youngsters and sometimes you need to mix it up a little. Which took me back to theo signing. I have checkmated myself. Welcome Theo.
