I’ve heard, from a reliable source, that once you’ve got over Covid you develop an everlasting erection enabling the patient to shag for days. Only affects women though.

    They can go **** themselves.

I was talking to this woman who came out with a load of ****e I’ve not heard of. But then I only read stuff on here and don’t watch the crap on tv and social media. Anyway. I’ll copy what she put!
Well here goes then . So all the virus stuff is utter bullshite . The figures are fudged. The government are lying, every broadcaster . Brainwashing people 4 times a day . The hospitals are empty . It’s all a massive plot to depopulate the world with a vaccine that will probably kill people . People are killing themselfs everyday . That’s real.
I could have been mistaken for a conspiracy theorist, but everything I looked into has come true so I guess the next step . Is mr trump staying in office and if I get that right well I will totally believe in all the hard work I spent on everything last year.
The crashing of the economy world wide . 13 blood line family’s from Italy are responsible.
Yup the election will be over turned . Trump will be in for the next four years .

I think the main points of this are what couldn't may happen but for the changes that weren't in the original end. It's very perceptive of them to ascertain that it couldn't go the way it went rather than the difference between the way it didn't go and the actual events. QED.

Bit of logical thinking and clarity in communicating ones opinion soon ends up with the truth, n'est pas?

    Conspiracy Theories

The first is a pre-pandemic background paper on the psychology of conspiracy theories from a team with a very strong track record of theory and research in this area. The abstract states: “Belief in conspiracy theories appears to be driven by motives that can be characterized as epistemic (understanding one’s environment), existential (being safe and in control of one’s environment), and social (maintaining a positive image of the self and the social group)”. The pandemic provides a fruitful environment for epistemic and existential motivations.

The second paper emphasizes the importance of measurement issues in assessing the prevalence and/or strength of belief, this time in the context of the pandemic.

Sutton, R. M., & Douglas, K. M. (2020). Agreeing to disagree: reports of the popularity of Covid-19 conspiracy theories are greatly exaggerated. Psychological Medicine, 1-3.

Anything those QAnonces come out with is utter ****e. My cousin has sadly fallen through into their clutches. It’s sad how quickly it starts and the lengths they go to to defend their viewpoints, even against their own family and in the face of undeniable fact.

She’s always been the hippy, weed smoking, die hard “**** you if you aren’t vegan type”, but it’s heartbreaking that such garbage can tear families apart.

'Conspiracy theory' has become a stock answer hoping to shut down views that don't fit some peoples preferred choices, but I doubt this thread can last long without getting too political or fractious. So I have a much quicker way of shutting down political views of any hue, right at the end of my mouse.

My finger is hovering, as I'm sure the other mods are thinking the same.
