I may be fined if I do not send the g'kids to school.

I will only pay if Bonko and his useless cronies, resign for the appalling way in which they have handled the pandemic!

Keep them at home if you want to mate:

"Parents will not be penalised for non-attendance at this time." - Gov.uk website

That's likely to be different come September but it'll probably not be confirmed until the week before or until someone tries to fine a Tory MP for it.

The leader of the ruling party is supposed to lead, not follow.

The leader is supposed to give a lead, not be lead around by one.

The leader is suiposed to take advice, not instructions.

The PM seems to have strings attached that Cummings is pulling.

The announcement today is, as all the announcements have been really, aspirational. There's a genuine hope that come September we'll be able to plod on as close to normal as possible and I share in that hope. The announcement was the first schools seemed to hear about it and doesn't really change anything. Schools have an obligation to monitor attendances and get inspected and called to account if overall attendance goes down or if enough pupils start to drop significantly. To combat this happening schools are given certain powers, like issuing fines etc. Most schools I know (which as a percentage of schools in the country is insignificant!) don't enjoy being tasked to basically police parents we should be trying to work alongside to try and coerce children into school, given the current situation and the way the government has handled this i can't see:

    a) All parents complying come September
    b) Schools being heavy-handed in enforcing it
    c) OFSTED rushing to inspect schools on the basis of poor attendance

The Education Secretary can say what he likes, at the end of the day he can't actually control the situation and is left only trying to control the narrative. It's ingenious really of them to try and hang nasty police out to dry with vague lockdown rules their own people flout and trying to do the same with schools makes sense.

ps. By "parents" please read also "ward", "guardian", "carer", etc. I see parents everywhere as if they are the only people who look after, and bear responsibility for, children.

The Victoria's had to pay if they wanted to see the lunatics ...

... we get it all free.

I know I may be resurrected an old thread, however I was trying to work out which country has had the worst deaths per 100,000 of the population.

It looks as if it is the UK something like 60 or 70 per 100,000

I honestly don't understand why Trump and Johnson behave the way they do, it's a worry.

They started off stomping around, laughing at masks and shaking hands. They know they're highly scrutinised and set the tone that people follow. Now they're wearing masks and we're facing fines and possible arrest.

In the UK we're told' science' has shifted which I really don't get.

We knew the virus was spread by people breathing, sneezing and coughing months ago.

What could have possibly changed ...

... I've just checked and my mouth is exactly where it was in March.
