Yeah that's a bit mental mate, like you say it's understandable that engineers are so they can keep the country online as such but it's time to send the other staff home. Hope they realise this soon...

Weak leadership all round, companies need to take responsibility too as it's clear employees will turn up to work in fear of losing pay. It seems to me Boris is trying to let the country make its own decisions and hopefully they are the correct ones. If not we will slowly see the country close in and go in to more stringent lockdown like has been done over the last 8 days.

Just had an email saying they’ve ordered thousands of laptops but are having difficulty sourcing them. At least the business is trying to get it done.

That’s another million or so for Mr Dell to spend at Derby haha.

Well one led us through a world war and the other ensured that the Falkland Islanders got what they wanted and remained British citizens. Now he's leading us through an unprecedented pandemic and doing a very good job of it, and the majority of people that I actually speak to (labour supporters and even the Scottish) agree. Take politics out of this and see it for what it is, you may be enlightened Hank <laugh>

Look at the countries who locked down quicker, did it really help in the grand scheme of things?

Look at the good things how many people did she save in the Falklands and at what cost ,and how many did put on the dole just to beat the miners

So let people and our territories be taken over by another nation and leave them to it? I'm sure she would have been lauded for that mind.

What about all the miners constant strikes? Isn't it pretty much widely accepted (by miners as well) that they brought a lot of **** on themselves? If you don't like your job and your circumstances, change it. Don't expect others to take you by the hand and do it all for you. Nobody was attached to a chain and dragged to work.

The more important detail is the number of deep pits closed, disregarding small mines, sometimes privately owned.

Labour in total closed 371 deep pits.

Clement Atlee closed 101 in the early days after nationalisation

Harold Wilson closed 235 between 1964 and 1970 and 18 in the years after the miners strike during Heath’s term in office

James Callaghan continued the policy of supporting the NUM by closing just 4 mines in 1977- 1979

Blair closed 10 in 10 years and Brown 1.

    Thatcher closed 115 deep pits.
