If I had a clue what you were trying to say I could give an answer, I have been working 50 years and have had 4 weeks off sick, put your working record on or are you a ‘ sick note snowflake ‘
No I won't refuse any help the government give me from taxpayers for unemployment/ sickness, disability or old age if and when I need it. That is socialism. Pension is retirement benefit when the government say you are too old to work. It is almost 2/3rds of the "benefit" bill last time I looked. I do not begrudge anyone else getting help financially either. It is right and proper.
Looked on HMRC website and apart from a couple of weeks in the 80's and 90's my n.i credits entitle me to full state pension with the contributions I have made. I am 55, you only need 35 years n.i contributions to qualify. Fully paid up.
What would your definition of a "benefit" be then? Mine would be any money given to a person by the state adminstered by the DWP. The DWP administer state pension.
You know nowt I worked for 50 years 20 for the council and 30 for hmp Some where along the line I was paying reduced national insurance Therefore received a reduced oap I struggled to pay tax and ni ( apparently reduced no difference realy ) Then for my final 10 years I paid extra 3 pensions which I did not get Then I now receive my pensions and have to provide for my wife However she now gets her oap The pensions are not a benefit they have been paid for over the hard worked previous years through denial and hard ship
EVERYTHING the government spend is paid for by taxation of workers, income tax, national insurance, VAT etc. The government do not have any money, they get all of "their" money by taxation of working people.
You seem to be suggesting that State Pension is an undeserved benefit for people that have reached the appropriate age, and that these pensioners should be grateful for these 'handouts' . . . . as if they were lazy bastards who have never worked a day in their lives, rather than it being an income that they have earned and thoroughly deserved, having paid their dues throughout their working lives I can understand why some are annoyed with you I may be wrong, but you also seem to have lost any grip that you had on this discussion !
Exactly the opposite. The OP made a remark about me "taking people in" inferred that I am some sort of Lord Longford figure loony liberal. I am a socialist who works and pays taxes. I do not care whether they spend that on "dole scroungers" just as I do not begrudge old age.pension. Adolf Hitler spoke about the poor and the undeserving poor. As a socialist I think everybody has a right to housing, income and food in their belly. OP seems to think different.
No man is any better than any other man. We are all equal. If somebody is bone idle are you suggesting that they do not deserve to live? I will have vastly more money in the bank than a "workshy layabout" that is my reward for working. If other people are too lazy to work and are happy to live on the breadline and they choose a life of poverty that is their lookout.
