Where have i said i object to NHS capacity being increased?
My concern for my fellow citizens is the fear these charlatans at sage and the government are putting in their minds, the lack of treatment in a lot of cases because of one virus that if you catch it have 99% chance of recovery
As i have said before, The people who die from this virus is a tragedy, the many thousands who have died because of this bollox is criminal

Me personally I'd have gone to the pub, work, football and played sport. Got to point out that work was setting us up with work from home a few days before the national lockdown was announced and professional football beat the government into shutting itself down. So 2/4 would have been out of my control.

I wouldn't have implemented masks. I wouldn't have wasted all that money on adverts trying to scare people. Don't get the obsession with testing either. I'd never get tested personally, but if I did and was positive would I expect mates/family who I'd been in contact with to isolate/take their own test, not a chance. Same if it happened in reverse. Must be so many who have a similar take.

I hope we can agree that these lockdowns which last ~3.5 months are not sustainable. Just hope we are not forced into hibernation next winter, when they need to modify the vaccine for another new variant.

That's not fair, last Saturday after the Villa game I carried out a covid secure(ish) taxi drop off service, wound the windows right down. Although come to think of it that was mainly a visibility issue due to the ice.

Quite a shame really as he lives 2 minutes from the golf club which would have had the footy on in normal times.

Good point OLOF, if it's true, and I can't argue that it's not. Lies, damn lies, and statistics, eh?

The nightingale hospitals were nothing but a £500m PR exercise. As they could never man them, and they knew this. There was already 40,000 nursing vacancies unfilled and the system was / is stretched a result, so they never had the means to staff them. When hospitals were requesting transfers to the Nightingales, they were required to send staff with the patients, which was completely impractical, so it didn’t happen in the main.

So you can lob them in with the £37BN largely spunked away on track and trace.

So don’t test anyone, and even if you’ve got it, just crack on and spread it about without giving a ****? Oh and don’t wear masks either, because they’re a pain in the arse as well, eh.

    Some take that like,

You ever heard of the word - society?

Testing the sick, not a problem, however the regular mass testing I don't really think you can have a functioning society. Will it ever be dropped or is it here to stay for the long run?

Walk around town and you see plenty of the disgusting blue masks chucked in the street/subways. How often are people touching the masks? How often are the reusable ones washed? Are they stored in vehicles/bags/coat pockets/lying around the house gathering dust. Police/security/shop workers having to engage with non mask wearers, why don't they just keep their distance like they're supposed to do. People shouting at each other over it as well is not meant to be clever. I appreciate these conflicts are rare, just don't like seeing rules enforced for the sake of it.

Nothing wrong with mass testing it helps the ones being tested. Rules are not being enforced just for the sake of it. Why would agovt try to restric the population just to hurt the economy.

I had covid, very few symptoms and no problems. A friend of mine got it, and he's now dead. Healthier than me, just luck.

Agreed that staffing the Nightingales to anything approaching capacity would have been immensely challenging. Had it been necessary though, it would have happened. Perhaps not with the fully trained and highly competent Doctors and Nurses we usually depend upon but staff would have been sourced and trained as best possible.

Public Heath England and the NHS needed options and the Nightingales were vital in providing additional bed capacity at a time of great uncertainty.

Would you and others who are critical of the way in which the Nightingales were created be able to suggest what alternative provision would have worked better ?

For example, pretty sure all private hospitals/beds had already been requisitioned for use if required.

So sorry to hear about your friend chesh...it really does appear to be the most horrendous game of Russian roulette if you catch covid.

The entire premise was flawed, COVID patients would have needed high dependency / ICU level staffing, not just anybody they could coax out retirement or care assistants. They couldn’t staff them for their intended purpose, it’s not even a debate.

Most of the private beds requisitioned weren't used, the sensible approach would have been to measure bed usage before spunking £500m on what was nothing more than a PR stunt.

Perhaps the Nightingales were primarily intended for covid patients who's medical requirements were less than ICU...perhaps oxygen only.

The honest answer is I don't know, which is why at the time they seemed a reasonable method of preventing patients dying in corridors etc, granted that dying in a bed is only marginally better of course.

Not defending the Government as they've got a great many things seriously wrong...if fact most things thinking about it.

We never got close to filling every normal bed though, what we did do was reach maximum capacity and beyond on ICU beds, so the focus and cash would have been better spent increasing capacity in that area, as opposed to building useless war hospitals in days, that felt like nothing more than a dick waving exercise, as it ignored reality and actual need. But didn’t we do it well though, days we did this in, DAYS, what an achievement. Oh hang on, where’s the bogs?

****ing clueless mate, by whoever was responsible for it.

Just wonder what the ethnic background is of these people who are refusing the jab and what their reasons are.
Of course the powers that be won’t tell us, could be hiding something

Just been told a lad down the road from me took his own life during the week, his wife found him in the garage, early forties with two daughters apparently he had lost his job six months ago and was depressed because he couldn't provide for his family. I didn't know him that well but i spoke to him a couple of times, seemed like a really nice bloke
Well done Boris you ****, another lockdown death on your hands
Anyone on here got the stats for deaths caused by sage and the government?
