https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...residents-turned-out-on-to-street-coronavirus Another outfit to add to my list of do not use companies.
PPE companies can only supply what is ordered, usual shipment is by 40ft containers on many weeks lead time. The Conservative government clearly did not have enough back up stock to allow for a pandemic. There was also a shortage of PPE equipment under Labour governments in preparation for the epidemics 2003 and 2010. If these had turned into pandemics then today's scenario would have accrued earlier.
Pretty cushy money earner then.... .why dont they just cut out the profiteers and then save more money for healthcare?
This is a highly specialised and regulated industry very strictly The government tried in the past to bypass the specialist companies and messed up badly. Paid for stock had to be thrown away. The PPE industry is highly specialised and monitored very closely to maintain extremely high standards. Sometimes products are manufactured to individual trust requirements. There is also training and fit testing which is part of the necessary service. Your suggestion is unworkable. After this pandemic the UK should fully reward those companies that rose to the occasion and shun those multinationals which failed to come up with the goods when needed. After Brexit the UK is no longer required to adhere the European tender rules which will make life much easier for UK based firms.
So if you are out of work, or working for the NHS, your child might be eligible for free school meals. If you are in the Bristol area the meals are provided by a company called Chartwells, which a company within the Compass Group that made a £1.7 Billion profit last year. They supply a weeks food for a child at £11 per head, and this is what the weeks pack consists of. Would you want your children to exist on this as a main meal for five days? This what privatization has done, with money going to shareholders rather than improving services. please log in to view this image
Well that is how the whole system used to work ...... NHS had its own purchasing depts etc etc... So your argument does not hold water. There should be Zero reward...How can you even say such a thing....... companies are making money out of it which is the Tory ethos yes.... plus a knighthood etc... whilst the people who do the work and are vulnerable... suffer.... Plus you know fully that the EU is disaggregating the UK from all purchasing and development relating to all health care products.... and the UK is having to go out on the open market..... and of course there is no surplus worldwide, supply is shot, so prices are high etc..... At a time when we most need unity ,common agreements and deals... the UK has cut loose..... talk about bad timing
You clearly know little about the NHS and business. The business in the last 20 years has seen NHS purchasing change from individual hospitals to area trusts and sometimes consortiums. They have been limited to using European tender rules unless they purchased through the NHS Supply Chain. This consisted of a pre chosen small number of suppliers. Any additional proceeds for extra business now will be offset when fulfilling long term NHS contracts with vastly increased stock costs due to Sterling's devaluation. It is in the UK's interest to promote private UK businesses that employ scores of people, pay a lot of tax and is reliable when the chips are down. The alternative is multinational companies who clearly have their priorities elsewhere.
The words of a political zealot who is finding it hard to admit that he is the downfall of a country's Health system. If you doubt that he is a zealot, just check out his eyes as he speaks.
You have to proud to be British. Over 250,000 people have responded in a single day to the request for volunteers to help the NHS. These are needed for delivering food and medicines, driving patients to appointments and phoning the isolated.
It’s hard to escape the conclusion that the government is full of people incapable of even conceiving that it’s possible to completely run out of money within days. The only alternative I can see at the moment is that they do understand but just don’t care. I would have liked to ask Johnson at PMQs was he prepared go without any food for the next few days until people started to get some money. After all he likes to think we are all in it together.
