I had a running joke of blaming everything (however obscure) on Brexit, then on Vegans...now my tag line is Covid-19. Does this mean I am not concerned about a pandemic and the people who may suffer because of it...no, as you said, just trying to make people smile. And they do....at least at the moment.

 

I would say end of July would be the deadline to get this season done, and the latest they could delay the start of next season would be mid September.

 

The end of June would be the deadline for the current season, due to the fact that’s when players contracts expire.

 

End of July would be impossible. Would have to be end of June because of contract expires - we would lose Shane Long for example.

 

If this disease lingers on...and there is every chance it will...this season will be abandoned. The only way it can restart is if people (notably footballers and related staff) stop falling ill...not necessarily going to happen by an arbitrary date set by the EFL/PL.

 

I think Leeds fans will start a riot if this season is declared null and void. Literally, a riot.

How do you know it's impossible? This is completely unprecedented. Not since WW2 has football been affected like this. Contracts could be extended by a month.

Yep, they will all have to extend otherwise it's not a fair game ... I highly highly doubt this season will go past June.

 

It's probably all irrelevant anyway. Can't see any football until August at the earliest.

 

And it's not something that will work across the pyramid.

 

That's my point, most are not staying positive but are getting a thrill from what MIGHT happen with only speculative information.

My dude, we're past the theoretical here. The 60m+ person nation of Italy is effectively at a standstill, its health care system already stretched beyond the breaking point, and is seeing their patient load increase by 20% a day. Spain's going to be in the same boat quite soon, given the rate of growth.

No one's panicking; that's simply the reality of the situation that the UK and elsewhere will face in a few days. The less seriously people take that threat today, the more serious the situation will be in a couple weeks.

 

With there being no football on I decided to speak to the wife......it was nice to have a catch up and who knew she no longer worked at Woolworths.
