Just got back from giving my car it’s weekly workout and joined the M27 westbound at Lordshill and came off at the Totton exit. The amount of traffic heading west, at 09.30, on a Sunday morning during a pandemic, was insane. Look out Bournemouth and other resorts in that general direction.
From today it will become illegal for you to have sex in your home with someone who is not of your household, under Amendment Regulations being introduced in Parliament. But it is ok for someone to stay over night if they have attended a funeral. Good luck policing those changes. Might get my camera ready for July, though. Swimming pools will be open but to avoid crowded changing rooms people will be asked to arrive and leave in their swimming gear. I can just picture someone getting on a bus and reaching into his trunks for his bus fare and ditto when paying the pool entry fee. The thought of people wandering towards the swimming baths, in their speedos etc gave me my best lol moment in ages.
A table created at an Oxford University, detailing how prepared countries are for exiting lockdown. The UK comes in at 164 out of 168.
The number of deaths, in Southampton for April, was double that of last April, which mirrors the figure for deaths in the same period across England and Wales. Clearly not all the deaths were Covid-19 related, but how many could have been avoided, had resources not been taken up by the virus or had people reacted to symptoms and sought earlier help, may never be known. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/18489625.deaths-southampton-double-usual-levels/
An ode especially for this rotten, corrupt government and its lies about corona virus. Oh, what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive! But when we’ve done it quite a bit, We find we get quite good at it. By Sir Walter Scott and David Nickson’s Uncle Harold.
Just seen on the ITV news, that the government is concerned that the public aren’t using face coverings when in shops or on public transport. They plan to stiffen up their position on the need for more people to be using masks in public, BUT THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT MANDATORY. FFS. If they were in anyway serious about controlling the virus, they would have learned from the actions taken by other countries. Wearing a mask on public transport, in Spain, is mandatory with one person in the Canary Islands having been given a 4 month jail sentence for refusing to comply with the rules. A bit draconian, some might say, but the stricter regime has now given Spain 2 days without a single Covid-19 death being reported.
