I think many of us expected this. They can’t be allowed to get away with this, when they should be admitting that they screwed up and tendering their collective resignations.
And they had 25,000 untested elderly patients discharged from hospital directly to care homes in March, to clear the hospital decks. Who knows how many lives that cost?
This brilliant piece, acted beautifully by Mark Bonnar, produced by the National Theatre of Scotland, is powerfully moving and thought-provoking. Fictional, but eerily familiar.
This isn’t good. A&E closes after 70 staff self isolate. How many people will they have come into contact with, in a London hospital in Johnson’s constituency.
From this Monday, July 13th it is compulsory to wear a mask in public places in Spain. Walking down the street, everywhere. Obviously, when having a coffee and croissant, You can unmask until you finish. So this weekend I am wearing a mask when out and about so that I am acclimatised to the situatión by Monday.
More Tory lies, not only estimated 200,000 tests too many .......but they were counting a nose swab and throat swab as 2 tests on the same person.
Yep and Matt HanCOCK was very proud at the time saying “millions of pieces PPE” in fact when it was a pallet of blue disposable gloves.
Not good news from Spain. https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/07/10/coronavirus-figures-in-spain-rise-as-outbreaks-worsen/amp/
I’m wondering if all the care we are taking because of Covid will have a positive effect on flu and cold rates in the winter. There will undoubtedly be a rise in deaths due to Covid directly or indirectly, but I’m sure epidemiologists will be looking at the effect on deaths due to other causes. Some people who have died may have been due to die over the following 12 months, so will that result in a fall in death rate in that vulnerable group. Sounds macabre but there will be a lot of detailed analysis going on.
Hope so, Fran, but, based on the fact that so many people just aren’t taking care any more and they’re the ones who’ll likely to be transmitting the virus on, I’ll be very pleasantly surprised if the death rates fall in the winter. The more I read and hear about this virus, the more worried I get, as there seem to be long term side effects which are only now being uncovered. On a lighter note, perhaps turning into a complete self-entitled and uncaring arse is one of those side effects. That might explain De Piffle and his boss, Demonic Cummings behaviour .........
Some are saying that the reason the "excess death" figures are back to normal is because those who would have been expected to die in the last week or so were actually finished off a few months back. As you say, lots of analysis ahead.
I’m not expecting death rates to actually fall, but am suggesting that rates due to the usual winter illnesses may decrease. I know that when I go for my winter flu shot, I will ask for the pneumonia one as well.,.recommended for over 65s but not pushed . And I’m wondering if people will also be more reluctant to put their elderly relatives into homes. There are people who need care, but I bet there are quite a few that would be fine sat in the best chair in front of the tv in their children's homes for a few years .
