I had a chest infection, aches and pains and headaches in the last week of January that put me on my back for 3 or 4 days. I self certified at work but didn't go to my surgery.
I then had something a bit more serious a few days after I recovered which required surgery and a month off work so kind of forgot about the January thing.
I never had any sore throat though so I think it probably was a seasonal flu type virus rather than anything more sinister

Same. I don't get sick often, but in late January (I think) I got run over by a virus which laid me up for a week with a high fever, a sore throat, and a dry cough that persisted for weeks, and just general weakness. It was likely just the flu, but I'd be interested in taking the serology test once widely available; I live in a building with a large student population, many of whom would have come back from abroad in the days prior, so it's not exactly impossible that it was COVID.

My job is IT support in a University so lots of worldwide travellers spreading lots of worldwide germs all over the Pcs that I have to support. We have a large number of Chinese students so I wouldn't be surprised if it was knocking about earlier than we thought - it can be carried for nearly a fortnight before symptoms show

Is that a test that tells you if you have had covid19?

Same here; university town with a large population of overseas students, the majority of whom are Chinese/Taiwanese, and they're a fairly insular community, which could mitigate community spread. As most of the people are young, it's the sort of place where you could easily have a mini-outbreak without it ever really registering.

Yeah, tests for antibodies or what have you (no doctor am I).

Did anyone else watch Martin Lewis @20.30?
His interpretation of the furlough rules, (and his comments that he is getting his information from the government would indicate that he is right) that are being used to access the 80% government wage subsidy scheme, is that key workers CAN be furloughed.
I will be contacting my employer in the next day or so to inform them of this and see what the response is.
I get a feeling that I might have to escalate it above my line manager.

Its funny a lot of you suggesting about the jan flu, because a lot of people told me they thought they had it before the numbers started creeping up.I wonder if the body does truly build an immunity. If not, 2020 is a write off, and half of next year too. Scary.

It would be great to be tested and then told that you had already had COVID19...best present ever.

If nothing else, it'd mean that I could be useful if/when my place of business is shuttered. There's going to be a great need for those who have recovered to fill in for those who are vulnerable in places where there's a higher risk of contracting the virus.

Yes, it measures 2 antibodies, Immunoglobulin M, which starts being produced 5-7 days after infection, and Immunoglobulin G, which starts about 7 days after that. The test looks for types of IgM and IgG specific for Covid-19 of course, and depending on the relative levels of M and G, it tells you if you have it, or if you have had it recently.

I heard on the tv this morning where they don’t know it’s accuracy....it’s best to test 3 times to be sure.

I am feeling bit crap tonight with achy limbs.

BUT. I had flu jab today, so to be expected.

Was told by the nurse at my surgery that to only worry if I get a temperature.

I thanked her BTW for all the good work - she was embarrassed ,and I said don't be, you really are one in a million.

And seeing how it spreads. All those stupid pubs having their last piss ups should hang their heads in shame. Corona party indeed.
