Yorkshire chairman Steve Denison has asked club members not to back Geoffrey Boycott's return to the board of directors. Former England opener Boycott made 609 first-class appearances for Yorkshire and was president from 2012 to 2014. Nottinghamshire have signed Jackson Bird as a replacement for injured fellow Australia seamer Peter Siddle. Bird, 29, who took a Test-best haul of 5-59 in Australia's recent win over New Zealand, is available for the opening 10 matches of the County Championship. Sussex have signed Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman as their second overseas player for the T20 Blast. The 20-year-old left-arm seamer has played two Tests, nine one-day internationals and 10 T20s for the national side. Mustafizur will be available for the whole tournament, subject to his commitments with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League
Surrey have signed South African fast bowlers Conor McKerr and Mathew Pillans on three-year deals. McKerr, 18, has represented South Africa at Under-19 level but holds a British passport. Pillans, 24, joins from the Dolphins and will play for the county under an ancestral visa

Somerset have signed Hampshire all-rounder Yasir Arafat on a season-long loan deal as a non-overseas player. The 34-year-old ex-Pakistan international made 22 first-team appearances for Hampshire last season. West Indies limited-overs captain Darren Sammy will join Hampshire for a large proportion of the T20 Blast.
