Stuck with it now. It's been a hundred years and people still think that Spanish Flu was the fault of them dirty Spaniards.
Interesting view this morning on the radio. This new variant might struggle to take hold because of the strength delta virus. The danger really does now seem to be in those that are not vaccinated. I do think that we are going to need permanent vacation centres instead of the temporary set ups we have now. Whilst I respect people’s personal choices, we now need to look at being socially responsible.
I was a bit surprised the other week that the earliest we could book a booster was 10th December. No point changing the appointments now but I looked a couple of days ago and could book one for next week. Capacity must be being ramped up very quickly.
Booking a vaccine slot is a bit haphazard. It appears that they are taken up very rapidly, then people cancel leaving earlier slots in the system. My wife and I ended up driving from Brid to The MKM stadium twice in 6 days to get two booster jabs (one each, my wife doesn't drive) or we could have waited till our GP sorted a booster. We preferred as early as possible.
Got one in Brid but no until 10th December. GPS aren't sorting out boosters it is all done through the NHS apparently.
Depends where you live. My GP offered me two options 12/12 or walk in at the chemist. Went to the chemist and straight in. Done in 20mins no waiting. They do around 600 a day.
The year’s 2052, you’ve just had your 100th booster jab to protect you from the Þurs variant (they ran out of letters from the Greek alphabet so moved on to the Futhark runic alphabet). The government say if you’ve got your latest jab, restrictions may be lifted in a few weeks just in time for Christmas Day. They still advise you wear your mask on public transport and in shops in the meantime.
Mine isn't. I am on the extremely vulnerable list and was bombarded with texts and instructions of what to do and not dolast year and up to my second jab this year. Now my surgery, which used to be excellent but now treats people wanting treatment or advice as though they are a nuisance, says ring 119 (try that if you want to encounter something that makes City's booking system easy to negotiate) or go online.
I managed to contact my surgery the other day ( which is a vaccination centre) and spoke to the receptionist, told her I'd been contacted by NHS and that I should now book a booster for my wife and I, having had our last jab in June only for her to say well it isn't 6.months yet, I did advise her government recommending 5 months now but she was oblivious to it despite me being contacted by the NHS ! So now getting jabbed in December .. as our surgery is sticking to the 6 months rule !! What a crock of shyte I tell ya
My stepson works for the NHS and was given flu jab and booster at the same time. He was ill for a week.
