This is our poorest season in living memory. In the end, all we are likely to be grateful for is that JJ's dead cat bounce was big enough to keep us in League One. Even that isn't certain yet.
To be fair we deserved nothing. The whole team were sh*te apart from Clare, who was solid and didn’t do a lot wrong.
Good win for CAFC tonight. Some very bad news for us Lions - looks like we are about to sign one of your old donkeys
I’d say yes. Keeper wouldn’t have saved it but Leko is well offside and so close to the keeper and I think actually handles him, so can’t really complain too much. Just another bit of crap football from Leko. Get rid.
If our first team can't beat Crewe, or even compete with them, we might as well play the U23's for the rest of the season. Whichever new gaffer comes in at the end of the season needs to slaughter this failed squad. A few decent performances during JJ's honeymoon isn't good enough. They're a f**king disgrace. Only silver lining - we didn't get knocked out of the FA Cup at home by Palarse this weekend just gone
Not sure what was worse, Losing to the stripey Nigel's or hearing we are about to sign Lyle Taylor FFS. Bad day all round
Lyle Taylor? That's cheered me up, thanks TC I'm logging off now - something tells me it's not going to get any better this evening...
So here’s another cheery thought. If all the teams below us win their games in hand, we’ll be 16th and just 4 points above the drop zone. Happy days.
No, I'm just assuming that the definition of success (to allow Jackson's contract to renew) includes Charlton finishing in the top half of the league. In principal any finish lower than 7th this season will show decline rather than progress compared to 2020-21, but our awful start to the season is not really Jacko's fault since it happened on Adkins' watch and JJ was just his assistant. But any finish lower than 12th will equal or surpass our worst 3rd tier finish in living memory. And there is no way that can be defined as any kind of success. I like JJ. Everyone does I expect. And if he loses his job it will be more because of the lack of character among our shower of players than directly down to Jackson. Only his lack of experience in how to turn things around could be held against him. For me, the more these players fail to perform - for a second manager now, and one they supposedly have great respect for - the more I pin the blame directly on them. We've seen that they can play. So when they capitulate that's a flaw in their mentality. They aren't little kids. They should be able to dig in and show some resilience. If Jackson fails the Sandgaard success test and loses his job, nearly all of those players should be gone as well.
Whilst having to keep a close look at the teams below us, this season is a write off and we need to build for next season now. Blow out players who we do not think are staying around and concentrate on the others, then go from there. The remainder of the season is going to be rather flat.
They're going to sign Vile Traitor His treachery will be complete, the anti-vacc trouble making contract welcher
Glad I gave this one a miss. Looks like the OGS syndrome may be kicking in. From what I've read our midfield doesn't function any more. Maybe because Dobson is the only one who can spot a decent pass. Good to see Burstow get his first league goal. He should get a few more if he partners Stockley. Let's see if JJ rings the changes to get us going again.
