Who will get the poisoned chalice? Selection has been biggest problem, no captain would have done better results-wise with players that were picked, they just weren't good enough...
Whether he has been pushed or not, l think he has done the right thing. Fact is, he's a dam good cricketer but not captain material. He was never tough enough or mean enough. Hopefully for him, his cricket ability will raise again to where it was. Good luck to him. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/root-steps-down-as-england-test-captain-20220415-p5adt4.html
Director of English cricket. Overseer for the England team, hopefully he'll appoint the right head coach or 2 if its split and together they get the right captain and start winning Test matches again !
Jos Buttler tearing up the IPL with another hundred yesterday, off 59 balls. He should take over as England's limited overs captain when Morgan stands down. As to the Test captain, Stokes looks most likely, but I worry about his mental health and how the captaincy might affect his form. No other obvious candidates who'd be guaranteed a place in the team, though.
