The big one starts this Thursday - the last Test match of the summer. I've got a ticket for saturday, so looking forward to that.

How will KP-less England fare? They have to win to retain their No. 1 status, but will go into the game as underdogs.
I think they may well go into the game with 5 bowlers, however, they need to score the runs too. likely Swann will come back instead of KP.

Can only see an SA win myself.

I think I've seen everything now - Alice Cooper watching cricket...

Snorting ball by Finn to get rid of Amla today but isn't Philander a joy to watch? Clearly a man who loves his cricket. <ok>

Dervite signs. Signed a one year contract - never been a fan of these deals but it does protect the club and I assume he has been bought in to be back up rather than start.

EDIT: Whoops - wrong thread. But to make it cricket related, I think KP, whilst making mistakes, has been treated appallingly from the ECB <cheers>

Dervite is a bit like KP - you either love him or you hate him !

Very uncomfortable watching today - outplayed and out-thought.

Nice warm welcome for KP today - I don't think I've ever heard a player booed walking to the wicket before - dashed ungentlemanly, old boy, doncha know...<laugh>

What a crowd pleaser though, out first ball.

Magnificent final day's play - we got way closer than I'd expected - still can't understand why this wasn't a five test series.

I think it may have something to do with money...:emoticon-0125-mmm:

Anybody who wants to see the perfect definition of the word 'dignified' should watch a playback of Andrew Strauss' press conference today to announce his retirement.

Very fine player, great captain, thoroughly decent bloke. <ok>

It's a sad day, but ultimately the right decision.

He will be remembered as one of our best ever captains and leaves us with many fine memories (back to back ashes).

Time to stop the nonsense and bring KP back too!

I’m fond of a bit of cricket over the summer.

    Particularly with refreshments <cheers>

All good fun, but it does mean football must be fine to come back in full.

Has its roots in the excessive gambling compulsions of the 18th Century Aristocracy I believe. Much akin to horse racing.

Association Football is a game for salt-of-the-earth working folk.
Nothing to do with gambling. Everything to do with temperance, community and local pride.
    (cue Hovis brass band music...)
One reason I don't like the way betting has swamped the football scene in recent years.

Ah, that makes sense now then. I definitely don’t come from aristocracy, but salt-of-the-earth I can relate to.
