Because I disagree he’s got said proven inability. That’s your opinion, once again stated as fact. He was given hardly any resources last time in the Premier League and we could have survived had Covid not derailed our season just as we were hitting form. Then this season he had a phenomenally tough start after having a Covid-obliterated pre-season, but kept in touch despite that. The idea he has “proven inability” is as preposterous and pompous as your claims to know everything when he was manager. Smith has had eight, easier, fixtures and gathered as many points, but scored fewer goals per game and still conceded two goals per game. The issues all started when we tried to play more heavily structured defensive football, which was a huge strategic error.
IMO Buendia has to be the pivotal point of the team, as he was with us. His role at Villa is completely different, being basically a wider player. He is wasted in this position.
I've always thought that Buendia is an outstanding Championship player and the record shows that. In the PL he's a good player like so many other good players who cost similar big fees which as a self financing club we cannot afford. At Villa there are other players as good or better than him.
