Vigil goes in a 2m maiden for Dermot Weld at Navan today switching from hurdles and Tipstaff who ran a cracker for Jim Bolger on debut will look to improve on his 2nd at Gowran lto with a maiden win today.

Not the most inspiring of racing but I will be keeping an eye on these two performers.

Posted this on the Thursday thread in error...

Not a big fan of backing shorties but I think these 3 have excellent chances today so I've put them in to a trixie...

    AZURE FLY 2/1
    CHIC THEATRE 2/1
    TEMPURAN 6/4

Really pleasant day for a quick 4 miles, it was very nice down by the Mersey today, with a breeze to keep me cool.

    Anyway, here we go.
I can't resist Innocent Girl, Towcester 2.20, after an impressive show at Southwell earlier this week, so given it's so short, I've doubled it up with Coolfitch, Nottingham 2.30, for a nice enough win double. Well, the sun is shining, why not?

Another with an earlier good show, Outre Mer, goes in the 3.30 at Nottingham and I'm also very interested to see how Dreamfield goes for the same yard in the opener at that racecourse; Gosden once again giving a debut to a promising one in October at Nottingham. Both too short to back tho; watching brief!

There may yet be more ...
Haven't even looked at the "sub plot" today!

    Good luck all.

Re Innocent Girl (and my obvious grumpy mood today).
Wins on the snaff at flat as a pancake Southwell in a handicap chase
Now out 2 days later at uphill and down dale Towcester in a handicap hurdle

Likely to hose up but at 1/2 looks one to happily avoid for me. Seen so many handicap good things get undone at Towcester!

Agree with the consensus that AZURE FLY looks good today. I have also backed Nigel Hawkes newcomer ANTEMIO in the first at Ludlow today at 28/1. He has already struck three times with Nachi Wells in juvenile hurdles this season and I think he has picked up a few nice cheapies in the HIT sales this year.

Had to chuckle watching the snooker yesterday.
Dave Gilbert was playing Ronnie O'Sullivan.
I wonder if there was a "modern Major-General" anywhere in the audience?

Read a quote from Mr Hawke the other day in which he said Nachi Wells wasn’t his best juvenile. Didn’t say what he thought was though…oooooooooooooooooooooooh the tease!

He has one in the yard called LAKE PLACID that I think could pay its way. My partners in crime have thus far not backed up my enthusiasm to take a share!

She's a Star is shaping into a real nice proposition for Noel Meade this year. Lowered Vigil's colours today at Navan and should make her presence felt over hurdles this season.

Tipstaff just got the job done well on 2nd start. One to note for next season.

Cinque Port caught the eye on debut last week running a well fancied runner close at 50/1. He's out next in Kempton and at 14/1 and with improvement hopefully forthcoming he is worth chancing for Richard Hughes.
