half a Guinness, half a soda water, about 20 peanuts - a Pogue Mahone - try and drink it as the peanuts keep travelling up and down the glass

Give the Guinness and cider a try, no need for Senokots after a few! :emoticon-0100-smile

Many moons ago (approximately 480), when I was an apprentice at Fenners, we always knocked off early on a Friday and went straight to the Club to play snooker.

Black Velvet was the drink of choice on those occasions and was a great start to an evening that generally ended at Spiders, Romeo and Juliets or the one with the phones in it, that burnt down. Next door to Dingwalls, who's name currently escapes me but will probably come back to me the moment I post this.

Of course after I moved away from 'Ull and became accepted in more refined circles, I learnt that Black Velvet is actually Guinness and Champagne.

Don't think they had Champagne in Hull in the early Eighties.

Going back on topic, despite it being Sheffield Wednesday, or whoever it is, I hate to see this happening to clubs. We’ve been at deaths door too many times to celebrate another team going out of business.
The only teams in the World that I really wouldn’t give a **** about going bust is Real Madrid & PSG. Madrid are one of the causes of the whole, trying to buy success. It has passed on to other teams, but that whole gallactico bollocks was the beginning of the end of football. Unfortunately, they’re not going to be one of the consequences of the failing football club!

Blastaway was a mix of a Castaway and something. Forget what though.

I never got the issue with banning Snakebites/Diesels. Was it just because the kids liked it?

It's not like its any different to having a normal pint, alcohol wise.

They were when me and my mate from sixth form used to make them, mixing Special Brew and Taunton’s 1080.

I’d like to think that my palate is a bit more sophisticated nowadays - it tasted much as you’d expect it to, but for two 17 year olds seeking the fastest way to get absolutely ****faced it was very effective!

That's what google says but I don't remember it being Diamond White in the pubs I went in. Deffo Castaway though. Maybe it was Castaway and MadDog 20/20.
