I've always admired quality buildings and any building where booze is on offer, is a thing of beauty!

Supported a restaurant in Waterford tonight.......3 course take away €30.
Starter mackerel with crab and potato salad
Main duck with orange crumble and potato gratin
    Desert strawberry sabayon tart

The starter was ok but the main was disappointing the duck was pulled and tasteless could only taste the orange crumble, also killed the taste of the wine which was a gorgeous rose......

    Desert was grand....

If that was the quality of the meals when it reopens I won't be going.....

Lovely evening here, so we decided to celebrate our loosening of lockdown with a selection of huge pizzas eaten in the garden. We were joined by the Young Team (jnrs pals), good fire pit blazing away and watching the solstice sun go down whilst supping on homebrew, Brew Dog Clockwork Tangerine (a lovely IPA infused with tangerine) and Brew Dog Hazy Jane (IPA with pineapple, mango and lime), and finished off with some shots of Eldorado (we're dead posh here!!!). Sun is now down so alarms set for 4:30am to catch the solstice sun rising (live streaming from Stonehenge) at 4:52.....question is, after all that beer, will I make it?

    No cooking tonight.
Splashed the cash and got local Chinese takeaway.
    Hit the spot nicely.

I am promised a huge chilli con carne with all the trimmings for Father’s Day, plus the boy coming to see us - haven’t seen him since we went to see Stewart Lee live in Birmingham the Friday before lockdown.

Excellent chilli, most of a bottle of red and a very typical family day - the boy watched the UFC from Las Vegas at about 5 this morning, forgot to charge his phone and was thus incommunicado until 3.00 this afternoon, and a new tradition - when we plan to eat outside THERE WILL BE BLOOD. Wife sliced a chunk off her finger opening the tin of kidney beans. Someone always cuts themselves somehow when we eat outside. Plus an excellent family face time with my 80 year old Mum who has stoically ploughed her own path through the lockdown and made us all laugh by swearing prolifically.

    Good Fathers Day.

Slightly over-did it on the port and ale last night - it was Fathers Day after all.

Tonight cooked the family nice thick sirloin steaks, plain seasoned with rock salt and pepper, served with potatoes and crunchy veg.

Strawberries and double cream for pud - then maybe sneak a couple of big glasses of port (well, it would be rude to let the other half of the bottle get lonely).
