I won £10 on the lottery last time I was in UK. Well I got back £10 of my £18 investment for the 3 weeks. I just pray my numbers don't come up until I go back. Gives me something to cheer when I don't see my numbers come out.

My grandparents used to tell me how in the 70's they won £8000 on the pools and bought a new house, those were the days!

My dad won the pools years ago, I remember him buying my mum a horse. I used to like the spot the ball comp that used to come with it

I never fell into that trap. I chose different numbers every week.

Used to play the Irish lottery as part of a work syndicate. Won over £200 each on that in a couple of months.

When I was a young lad my girl friend's father was in a pools syndicate and he had just taken over an additional share from someone who dropped out. The following week he scooped £11,000. I was living in a council house at the time and my pride got the better of me. Sometimes I look back on that, reflecting on my outlook on the situation, and think to myself, "What a twat".

I remember the spot the ball lady came round every Thursday but nobody on our street seemed to win, maybe she kept the money or perhaps we were just not good with the x in the right place.

    ahhh memorys!

now a days i opt for a few accumlators down the bookies. You soon see how hard it is to pick just three draws when they give you crazy odds for it.

Would still play the pools & spot the ball if people still came round!

Im considering it, but its a chew on as you have to ring an 0800 number to update your card details, rather than do it online, so I never bother. I think I shall have to go for it sooner or later, given that results are so 1-1 these days.

my mother used to sit me at the dining room table and have me do the ten crosses in 3 rows, I did not have a clue and just ticked anything, then we paid the guy on the doorstep, week after week, never won anything. Now my Mother has departed, I will win back your money Mother, because I am a lean mean betting machine

there was a match the other night, Standard Liege I think it was, were 1 up, the keeper actually came off his line away from the goal and the opposition player charging from the corner flag was left with a nice little open net to slot the ball into, 1-1, outstanding.
