Well now the group stages are over, i was just wondering who people would like to/not to meet in the last 16. There are no easy games, especially so after the group stages but you would fancy our chances against some teams. GROUP WINNERS Paris St Germain Schalke 04 Malaga Borussia Dortmund Juventus Bayern Munich Barcelona Manchester United GROUP RUNNERS-UP Porto Arsenal AC Milan Real Madrid Valencia Shakhtar Donetsk Galatasaray Celtic Me personally i hope we don`t draw Real or Shakhtar in the next round. What are other posters thoughts?
If I had to pick from those it would either be Porto or Celtic - although neither would be easy ties by any stretch. I certainly wouldn't fancy drawing Shakhtar though.
Porto, Celtic, Valencia or Milan for me. Valencia and especially Milan are big names and will ensure our players are 100% up for it, I would be a lot more nervous if we played a lesser side in very good form, like Shakhtar.
We could do without Real at this stage and also Shaktar as they look very handy. The rest though, take your pick. None would be a piss of piss so we may as well get stuck in. Celtic for the big tie though.
Would rather avoid Porto - they've looked pretty sharp this season scoring quite a few and rarely conceding. Agree with the other three tho - we've had the measure of all of them in Europe in recent years. Celtic would be the plum tie purely for the links between the clubs.Tho' it's a knockout tie, so anything could happen. Ultimately it doesn't really matter who we get at this stage - we're almost certainly going to have to play some of the top sides to get to the final. Might as well do it sooner rather than later.
