Seeing as we don't know our own costs and income for next season let alone those of all the other 23 teams, there's a lot of guess work going on.
You can come to a realistic estimate of what a mid-table championship budget is going to be though. Those in the game know pretty well what average contracts are. Income is irrelevant as were not talking profit and loss here, just playing budget.
So would i before hearing that but would Ehab literally hand detracrors a stick to beat him with by saying it and it turning out not the be true? Oh, hang on....
Perhaps they expect him to say we are going for it big time, the war chest is open, roll up agents come offer your most expensive players to us please
What the **** was that interview for, don't hear from it in ages then comes out and says **** all. When I saw the title I thought the twat was announcing the Club sale.
Playing budgets are generally known between clubs to an extent/approximately. Playing budgets( especially in the championship ) this season have really really dropped, ours being a mid table one this season is more to do with how many teams have been forced to drastically drop theirs as opposed to us drastically improving ours. We are financially in a enviable position to most others in our league.
A real opportunity to mention the fans, disappointed they couldn't be there to see Champions after 55 years. A thank you to those who kept up their membership payments. Something about the fans and next season. Instead it was all about the money, his money.
I think theres a bit of self-confirmation bias in your reading of that. He's s basically managing expectations for the coming season and he did mention the fans coming back in positive terms leter in the interview. But like i say, once some people decide they dont like someone they'd find fault with them even if they donated a ****ing kidney.... .... Of course it's about his money. Hes financially responsible for the club FFS and no-one else is coming forward with deeper pockets ATM.
He and his father are supposed to be business men, after all these years they still haven't learnt that a football club is different. At this very moment there is feel good factor, we have just been crowned champions so why not ramp it up and build on it? No lets forget all that and talk finances. Didn't think I was critical of what he said it was all fair enough, BUT he should have said some other stuff too.
Im not sure Ehab does 'feel good factor', but im sure the club will be ramping up the marketing ahead of the new season.
Correct they are business men and I doubt they will ever understand the supporters mindset. But better business men than many of the ambitious clowns who own Championship clubs.
Disappointing. I was really hoping the silence meant a takeover really was happening. Deep down I knew it wasn't. As **** chops basically confirms in a round about way, they have no intention of selling, unless someone comes in with stupid money (which they won't), but for some reason they want to string us along.
I think the clubs that stick to their budget will fair better long term. Agents can smell money a mile off and if a club is splashing the cash the agents will drain them of every penny. Much as many including myself have issues with the allams because of things said and actions taken, they are doing a decent job of running our club
