Not entirely certain, but, it appears that Jimmy referred to Stuey in such a way many moons ago, that has now offended people who make a livlihood out of being offended. Stuey himself doesn't appear to have been offended, so he'll be cancelled for not reporting Jimmy.

This is just the beginning. All sportsmen abs beyond will now have all their childhood social media interactions vetted.

It's not just sportsmen mate, people in general are losing their livelihoods.
Plenty of employers have taken to checking social media before offering jobs or finding reasons to sack someone.

Don't get why you think its wrong for employers to check social media when they are employing somebody - its just like checking on references. I wouldn't want somebody working for me whose views contravened my Company's employee regulations. Similarly if they express those views while working for my Company, whether it be verbally to another member of staff, or via social media, then they deserve to suffer the consequences.

Top level sportsmen should expect their social media interactions to be scrutinised and it's not really a great look to use the argument: I used to be racist and homophobic but now I am playing for England I am ashamed of it. Its right that Ollie Robinson and any others, responsible for dubious tweets in the past, should be investigated, and suspended while they are under investigation. If its shown that it all happened a long time ago and hasn't continued and they have shown by their actions, that they no longer hold those views, then fine.

Simple solution for top sportsmen - don't interact with social media or hire a professional to edit your tweets before you post them.

I reckon Broad would have been more offended had Jimmy called him a 15-year-old virgin. Much more hurtful.

It's just ridiculous... There's people out there with a big chip on their shoulder trying to ruin perfectly solid peoples lives, reputations and mental health because of their insecurities.

I've had enough of it tbh.

They think white working class heterosexual males get it easy? They can **** right off.

    There's ott reactions at play.

Tackle real instances of racist and homophonic behaviour or it starts to lose its credence in a sea of bullshit.

Eventually this is going to provoke serious trouble

I think this has less to do with cancel culture and more to do with the fact this country is losing it's ability to accept that people make mistakes. We (society in general) are actively looking for mistakes people have made and looking to crucify them for it. It is all so hypocritical. God help us if any of us ever make it into the public spotlight and they start analysing our posts on here through the years. I don't have a problem with people taking issue with things that have been said. If any of us are ever posting things that add to others feeling they are being persecuted or discriminated against then by all means point it out and give us the opportunity to learn. However, don't look to destroy that person. There is far too much appetite for punishment and revenge rather than education and rehabilitation.

"My new Muslim friend is the bomb" was one of Robinson's tweets, posted in 2010. A childish 'joke' if ever there was one, small wonder he is embarrassed. I suspect the reaction of most Muslims would be <doh>
