I am not going to slag off Sterling as he played pretty well, but his habit of letting his man go and then pointing at them as if someone else should be marking them drives me nuts!

 

A solid if unspectacular win.

 

A decent start and certainly a good result. It's all about momentum. Mings, Sterling and Phillips excellent.

I liked the formation and the midfield pivot.

I wasn't sure about the substitutions and am surprised Grealish didn't play at all. Perhaps he will be ready for Scotland.

 

First time we’ve ever won an opening game at the Euros. Get revenge over Croatia. Pressure off the Scotland game. F**king chuffed with that.

 

Played very well at times and got a win against the best opponent in the group.

Pressure is eased now for the Scotland and Czech games which will be huge. Brilliant start.

 

Good performance. Good to see us mix it up a bit with our pressing but holding when necessary.

I know Sterling scored but that goal was all down to Phillips imo. Never been convinced by him but thought he played very well today.

 

Great movement by Sterling. I know he is frustrating to watch. He must be a bigger to place against.

I really wish I hadn't watched the Denmark match live yesterday as Eriksen's cardiac arrest is still affecting me. I didn't have much enthusiasm for the match today at all. I'm glad we won but I wasn't exactly on the edge of my seat urging the ref to blow the final whistle. I'm sure it will pass over the next week before the Scotland game but I was feeling very flat watching the game.

 

You are right to criticise but I hate to see everyoine jumping on the anti-Sterling bandwagon. Your reasons may well be justified but there is the baying mob who do it without any sort of justification or reasoning. I hope Sterling has an immense tournament scoring tap-ins, deflections, headers as well as assisting others. Let's hope this begins an upturn in his performances.
