I think Mount will be a miss to be fair. Though I wonder if Foden might play better and pop up in those areas. Be interesting to see who comes in. Worried it means we'll defo see Phillips and Rice again though.
I dont think they will need to sit this one out unless they actually test positive. If they do, then surely the Scotland game will be postponed as their entire squad shared a dressing room with Gilmore etc.
Oh the beeb report initially said they'd miss out but they've changed that now so perhaps you're right. Interesting point on Scotland - didn't Croatia and Czech not base themselves in Scotland because of Scottish rules stating exactly that?
It'll be interesting to see how we play without the burden and pressure of needing to qualify. I think that that the shackles may come off and the team will be less inhibited and play with a bit more freedom.
Not sure how the logic works tbh. Players who literally shared a dressing room with him don't have to self isolate?
Yep, it stands to reason that he has spent much more time with the Scottish squad than with the Chelsea lads.
It's all b*****ks. What happens if the bloke with the phone after the Denmark match tests positive? Do the whole of the Denmark squad have to isolate as they were all in close contact with him after the game in the same way that Mount and Chilwell were with Gilmour? No, of course they wont.
Yep, it is all a crock of ****e. They won't do anything to Scotland because it would mean the entire squad isolate and the game is off. If they force Denmark to finish their game after one of their players nearly died, they aren't going to apply logic to this situation!
Whats the point of tests then. They've tested negative right? So they should be able to play. Like you say, how are they the only ones that have been in close contact with Gilmore?
As I mentioned yesterday. I'm sure both Croatia and Czech abandoned plans to stay in Scotland due to rules saying if one player tested positive then the whole squad would have to isolate. Pretty sure they're just making it up as they go along.
A lot of reports stating that Saka is due to start tonight. He looks good for a kid but still not sure why Sancho can't get a look in despite his incredible 2md half of the season. I think Saka starting could well mean we are going for 3 CBs as Saka can play LWB
I think people in this thread are going to be somewhat underwhelmed when we go with a Phillips - Rice - Henderson midfield today...
According to leaks it will be Philips, Rice and then Grealish in a 10 role. I still think Rice & Philips only work together if you plan on sitting back - neither of them can link defence & attack like Mount/Bellingham. Still, that's Southgate for you. I just hope we play with the full backs providing some much needed width tonight.
