I have a Connection to a team who kept our interest in 2 major competitions until the final few days, I have a connection to a team who is a million miles away from the dross of 2014-2016… even in the not so distant past we got annihilated in 2010 , 2008 we didn’t even ****ing qualify ….. think we maybe need better, think he’s making mistakes but the level of abuse he’s getting is laughable
What abuse has Southgate been getting? Do you class him being told he's not a good enough manager for England as abuse?
Having Rashford dancing in his run up to taking an important penalty shows that Southgate isnt concentrating on the right things.
To be honest I never have. They’ve all grown up in England youth set ups together and ultimately sum up the modern football scene. The group is the best it’s ever been but the mentality is **** and is no doubt a result of being lead by perennial loser Southgate
Southgate seems like a nice guy and good at man-management but his tactics leave a lot to be desired. Some people are better at being assistant coaches and Southgate is definitely one of them.
Southgate needs to move behind the scenes and just concentrate on the development and infrastructure of the England set up at all ages.
What I will never fathom out is why you’d play for penalties when the opposition keeper is the best in the world at saving the bastards and your record in shootouts is dog ****?
I agree with this. I also think some people are too quick to always blame the manager and never the team/players as a whole after a run of a few bad results. We have had some truly appalling runs since the turn of the century both in qualifying and at tournaments.
We would be better off stop ****ing around with these stupid competitions and let the players rest after a season that has too much football in them anyway. We are going to a World Cup in a place that is dog **** in terms of human rights. This World Cup is money orientated bullshit voted for by blokes with their hands in the FIFA pot.
The work he did creating the England DNA and the planning around St George's Park was a game changer for us as a nation. But it's also not unfair to say that he's tactically poor. I'm very appreciative of the work he's done and whilst the last 2 tournaments were successes, we had favourable runs and still managed to be lose to teams we had more than enough to beat.
It wasn't like he was a major success with the u21s either. He got them playing good football, but they failed at a tournament. He's improved since then mind but similar failings are still there. After scoring in the 2 minute (or whatever it was) of last year's final, we failed to have another shot on target. That's horrendous and highlights how negative his football is
Why EUFA they have chosen to extend this season, just months before the World Cup and starting the season early, I have no idea. saying ‘players are tired’ is always mocked, but performance levels do drop when they have played too many games. That is a fact.
Players progress and hit form at different times. For instance he couldn’t ignore Bowen’s recent form. There’s surely nothing wrong with trying to improve the team or seeing if players can do a job in the system (which may be very different to what they play at club level).
