I watched the game again last night. Deffo 3-5-2, & the reason for your full backs not attacking is that they had defending to do with the Robertson / O'Donnell threat. Not saying Scotland dominated the whole game - they didn't. I'd deffo say a draw was the right result & either team could have won with their chances. Btw, you are aware that a 3-5-2 transforms into a 5-3-2 when defending, aren't you? And don't listen to commentators - how many times have you heard them making the wrong call on offsides, tackles etc. Sometimes it's astonishing that they fail to see the obvious when us mere mortals can see the correct decision clearly.
Yes i could see englands full backs being pushed back. Why sterling and foden did not go wider baffles me. Southgate is a very poor manager.
Btw, it wasn't me underselling Croatia - it was the 'expert' pundits on the radio. Collectively. I've not watched them yet, so can't comment. As for player selection for england, that depends on the way they want to play. england don't seem to do much pressing á la Leeds, & for me anyway, they seem to be a collection of very good players, rather than a tight, together team. (I blame the manager. Phew!). We have a tight, together team with mostly poorer players. Apart from the 2 LBs, & depending on your manager & style adopted, I would have thought McTominay would most certainly be in the squad, McGinn a possible, Gilmour one for the future. In his pomp, McGregor would be up for selection, but not now. Still one of my favourite players to watch. Never stops running, & he seems to float / skip along the pitch, unlike any other player I've seen.
Didn't so much baffle me as wash me over with relief. Our FBs should have been shut down by your wide boys. I love Foden, but he didn't seem to play his normal game. Well, not for most of the game anyway. Sterling is a little shiite that I hate. Doesn't dive as often as he did, but was still trying it on. Is he on a slide now? Hopefully!
Maybe I was including you in the English we, since you have ditched Scotland to live in the mighty England. can't say I blame you, I mean who would want to live in a Jimmy Crankie run country.
Jimmy Crankie? Never heard of him. Or are you getting mixed up with the lady with the stage name? Her character's name is Krankie, btw. Would love to love in Scotland, but too many english up there, hence I prefer Wetherby. Much, much better than your Wales.
You should go back just think of all that space. Then there is the unlimited roaming in the gloaming avaliabe.
Krankie, Crankie, poison drawf, all the same. No need to explain why England's better than Scotland, we already know.
England v Germany will be shown live on TV across the UK, except in Scotland, where they will be showing Wish You Were Here.
