In the Leeds Test Alastair Cook went past Alan Borders record of consecutive test matches played:

    Alastair Cook - 154
    Alan Border - 153
    Mark Waugh - 107
    Sunil Gavaskar - 106
    Brendan McCullum - 101
    AB DeVilliers - 98
    Adam Gilchrist - 96

Incredible to play so many without being dropped or injured

Next highest Englishmen were Alan Knott/Ian Botham in 23rd on 65

So much for an unlikely 147!!. Alastair Cook moved into 5th in the all-time list, passing Kumar Sangakkara in his final test

Joe Root is now 58th in the all-time list with 6,279 runs, having passed Hershal Gibbs, Steve Smith, Mohammed Azurhaddin, Rohan Kanhai and Mike Hussey. He needs 3 to catch Ross Taylor.

Root needs 970 to catch Wally Hammond to be in the top 10 England batsmen. He is currently 15th, with Thorpe, Barrington, Hutton and Strauss still ahead of him.

For the Sri Lanka series I will extend the list to England's top 15

However Hearath is only 3 behind him so that's likely to change when we play Sri Lanka!!
