Atletico sign Trippier. PSG are chasing Rose. Been a while since a big overseas club was interested in signing a member of the England squad. These two aren't even necessarily starters. Trippier certainly isn't and Rose's place is debatable. The beginning, I hope, of a good trend.
Or planning ahead. Colback next to Longstaff and by end of next season we have an £80m looking player (Longstaff that is). We sell him and release Colback and we have £80m to buy the championship with again
Its good news because even older players like Trippier and Rose can benefit from experiencing a different culture and way of playing. Its more important what the young players have done. The likes of Sancho, Nelson, Lookman etc have basically stuck two fingers up to our clubs not willing to give them a chance. They have done what Fabregas did when Barca couldn't give him a chance (to be fair to Barca they had more of an excuse with Xavi/Iniesta). They are now saying nope I want more and you won't stall my career. I look at what Chelsea are trying to do with Odoi. I have sympathy with him. He stuck around and then got under used. Now they want him to stay but he wants to go because the trust is gone. He has to take them at their word he'll get a fair crack but he didn't last year. New manager might mean more opportunities but if not he has wasted yet another development year. I thought we may need to introduce a rule around it but the young lads have negated that by taking it into their own hands. England will be better off by these players getting the game time they deserve. Perhaps the clubs in the International Premier League will soon realise their mistakes. Regardless of opportunity which definitely needs to improve, players should be going abroad. Its got massive benefits to their development.
