A committee partly upheld complaints about how accurately BBC Scotland differentiated between the Glaswegian football club and the company that owned it. The ruling concluded that the BBC had breached 'due accuracy' guidelines, but had not 'knowingly and materially misled its audience'. The two complaints, filed separately, alleged 'that a number of reports on the BBC's website were inaccurate in giving the impression that Rangers Football Club, rather than the company which had previously owned the club, had gone into administration/liquidation'. The Trust agreed that some of the language used in reports was imprecise and would need to be tailored depending on the audience and whether it was a business story or a sports story. In some output the BBC had referred to 'old' and 'new' Rangers in items about the football club when in fact the club - in existence since 1872 - had not changed just because its administrator had. =============================================================================
Oh dear... In its evidence to the Trust, BBC Scotland had stated: "We remain of the opinion that due accuracy was achieved." It said: "A football club, once incorporated, is indistinguishable in Scots law from its corporate identity. "If the club was separate it would need its own constitution, committee members, trustees, etc. "Rangers Football Club does not have that because it is incorporated." BOOM
"Rangers fans are of the view that the club remained a separate entity..This is not a universal view, and carries no legal definition"-BBC"
"Lord Nimmo Smith’s reasonings were included in a report...His reasonings do not represent the view of company law"-BBC Scotland"

A-HAHAHAHA, 4 posts in about 8 minutes! three of which were in a row! he must have been reading through an article, saw something that gave him an erection so copy-paste-post then went back and saw something else copy-paste-post and so on. don't care though eh? I wonder what the reaction would have been if this and the ASA decision (along with all the others) went "their way"? gospel i'd imagine... they think they're laughing at us too, one day they might see it.
2015: Welcome back rangers, maybe we'll fill celtic park a couple of times this season... did it? not really, if it went your way there would be no team and ibrox would be a tesco etc but keep telling yourself that sunshine.
If only I could quote Chappers last post I'd highlight his bit about only listening to people if they agree with your point of view....then post quotes from their owner, current chairman, former captain and current head of communications on how Rangers died... But I've done it before so no real need to show Chapper up again
Beautiful thread, Edge. Obviously it has been derailed by tims that are still beelin' about our teams existence. It's getting a bit boring now.
haha, you never have and never will show me up. but yeah, a couple of momentarily disgruntled/twisted comments to a journo beats decisions by various recognised bodies and a judge of the Supreme Courts of Scotland indeed, i predict a slight decline of the next couple of years followed by an almighty eruption crica 2015/16
