96 was excellent. My daughter was born 22 May and during the Holland game, I kept waking her up! It’s been disappointing since then really, mostly because of dour, negative football by a succession of coaches.

Tbf, anything after 1999 was more fun because I found the pub :)

Indeed, starting with Sven and then through McClaren, Capello, Hodgson, Allerdyce and now Southgate. Varying degrees of quality, but none to get the heart racing or really engage fans.

96 was a great tournament. Distinct memories of england v Scotland and throwing up in lime Street Station afterwards.

    Great days

    98 was good as well.

It has all gone a bit ****, we used to get sent home as unlucky losers, great effort lads, just didn't happen.

It's dour now, better teams passing the ball round us while we camp in our own half, the occasional long hopeful ball to the forwards.

Which is such a shame. We have some excellent footballers who are very used to playing good possession based football under world class coaches (but I’m sure that the Utd boys would learn <laugh>). The point is that we need a coach that the talent deserves or we will forever underachieve. Not sure who that is mind, but I doubt very much that it’s Southgate!

1996 was certainly a team under pressure going in but the mood was good as the tournament was here and we had the song and all that from skinner and baddiel

The team imo upped the levels as it was at home so it will be interesting to see if this lot can or will they be booed off the park from the off as the scum racists boo taking a knee and knock the good mood off it.

A coach with a different approach would help, tournaments don't come round often, I'd be much more excited if there was a hope of some good football on display.

It seems like forever that England has churned out the same old ****e.

I'd rather lose flying at their defence than lose watching us camp In the area.

England have mount, grealish and foden. We should be more excited but are going to be treated to sterling and 3 cbs.

    Pickford
    Trent - Stones - Maguire - Chilwell
    Rice - Mount - Hendo
    Sancho - Kane - Grealish
Surely that team can play some exciting, attacking football. And it doesn't even have to be that team; there are loads of people who could be swapped in and out and it would still look good.

Yeah it should. The balance for me is still a bit off as grealish will be found out as a flopper.

    Maguire wont be fit.

I think we need to make the most of the attacking midfielders. Go full on pep with it.

Well you can swap Grealish with Foden or Sterling for example, and Maguire for Mings/ White/Coady/Walker/whoever. There's plenty of options for playing an attacking team.

But full-on Pep: You want to win the League Cup with England?

I'd be trying to get Foden and Mount in but if it's a choice between the two, it's got to be Foden, the lad is top class.

    Henderson
    Trippier - White - Stones - Shaw
    Hendo - Rice
    Sancho - Mount - Foden
    Kane

Let the three interchange, tell Rice to hold and let Hendo be B2B when he's able to get forward. FBs can get forward to support too.

Depends how we set up. Foden and Grealish are probably fighting for the same spot. Mount I would have as the most advanced if a midfield 3

    I would go the opposite.

    433.

    In attack.

    Henderson
    Stones whoever
    Walker rice chilwell
    Sancho foden mount grealish
    Kane.

    Without ball.

    Henderson
    Walker stones whoever chilwell
    Foden rice mount
    Sancho kane grealish
I would get width out of sancho and grealish bit want mount and foden driving forward.

Walker is good at tucking in narrow and blocking space to allow it to happen.

England have as I recall never had so many nice attacking technical players. Play to the strengths and to hell with the negative defending ****.

    Flood teams and scare them.
