Watching Newsnight on Monday, they had Shami Chakrabarti on and she said that a certain man had kidnapped and murdered Sarah Everard and went unchallenged by presenter Emily Maitlis. Had Chakrabarti been on Jeremy Vine's Radio 2 show at lunchtime, he would have stepped in and pointed out (as he did to a woman on his show who made the same presumption) that this was currently an allegation subject to being proven in court.

Chakrabarti should know better as a legal counsel; and Maitlis should have intervened but BBC impartiality does not apply when you agree with the sentiment and lack journalistic objectivity.

I am pretty sure that it is the same Shami Chakrabarti that was Shadow Attorney General for Jeremy Corbyn; and wrote the report for him that said that Labour was not over-run with anti-Semitism. I am sure her peerage was entirely coincidental.

Assuming black people are guilty of crimes is racist, assuming a white Policeman is guilty before a trial is meh at best. It's a free for all now, say what you like and issue a page 16 apology if you get told off. Over in the States the family of George Floyd have been paid out $27million before anyone has even gone to trial, doesn't look good for the officer. Wouldn't it have been ironic if his name was Neil?
