We are again so easily brushed off the ball. when we go forward everyone is already forward and static, no one running in behind or moving for the ball.
I’m normally an optimist and I can accept we have had a tough starting run of games but I am really struggling to see where we go from here. The squad looks good on paper but we look so easily brushed aside every week at the minute.
Agreed, but how do we get any confidence into this team, even when we look to be on top in a game we make stupid errors and concede, a couple of times a game at the moment. We desperately need a win, but a team is going to have to have an absolute mare against us to give us that.
We really need a team we come against to just make a mistake early and give us a break. The problem is that the only team to do it so far is Leicester, and then we got ridiculously unlucky to lose. Now any team low on confidence knows they just need to sit back and one of our players will do something rash. I’m losing faith in Farke’s ability at Premier League level to coach sensible play, but equally the way we lose - individual errors followed by collapse in confidence - doesn’t scream to me of a team which could perform dramatically better with a new manager. I’m not sure who could improve us. Positives from today: (1) Normann looked excellent (let’s forget the injury) (2) Williams growing in confidence (3) Neither Hanley not Gibson messed up (4) Sargent looks energetic for about 60 mins (5) We are probably still only three points behind our target based on the fixtures so far, because realistically odds are against us at Goodison Park
Burnley away next and they got a good draw away to Leicester today. Just heard on BBC Radio Norfolk that our first six PL results are the worst in the history of this league. We are the only team in PL, Championship, League 1 and League 2 who have not got a single point this season. Feeling very sad about this fact and trying to understand whether it is the players or the manager who are at fault. Something has to give and I can’t imagine SW leaving this scenario to continue much longer.
Agree with these. DF got the formation right and it was very even up to the penalty decision. The Everton player dove forward looking for it, but Kabak had no need to put his leg out as there were two CBs behind him. We need to stop thinking we can outplay PL teams in midfield and pass the ball through teams. We've brought in more pace and we should use it with more counterattacking. The substitutions were good but we still didn't get the ball to Rashica and Tzolis enough. A little more of Rafa's pragmatism would go a long way.
So we put DF on 'gardening leave', get Allardyce in for the rest of the season, then sack him and bring DF back next August. Sorted!
Farke is the King of the Championship and has a better squad (minus Emi ) and will most likely piss it If we go down. We are never going to financially compete at Prem level but he's 23 D chess at getting promoted. The whole thing looks scripted but that's another story
Well it turns out that me doing the match day thread didn't turn our fortunes around. I can only apologise. Good luck @GozoCanary
I've no idea what the solution here is but the one thing I can spot a mile off is the pressure is starting to get to Farke. I've never seen him so animated / angry in the dug out before. The pressure is most definitely on!
