He should have put 'Sunderland' in the song instead of 'Humberside' imo but then again I'm not Morrisey so who am I to tell him what to sing.
Bit of a change..... I watched a documentary a few weeks ago about Gary Numan. Never really listened to his stuff before, but found it quite interesting, enough to spend a couple of hours listening to a few tracks. This one stood out. The young girl singing on the video is his daughter, Persia, who was 12 at the time. Sounds great through headphones this....
One of my dads and mine favourite songs. it will also be one of the chosen songs to be played at his funeral next week. He was a massive Sunderland fan and got me into supporting the lads, his support wavered in his latter years but would still ask me for the result and how we are doing whenever I spoke to him. R.I.P DAD.
Wonderful post mate, I'd imagine you and your Dad were lucky to have each other. It's great how music can have such a massive effect on us all and provide the glue that binds us together. I never had much time for Mark Knopfler but, thanks to my son, I've started to appreciate him more to the point whereby I'm looking at tour dates. I love, in the song I've posted, how so many wonderful musicians obviously trust and respect him. The true 'seal of approval' comes from Emmylou Harris who has an ethereal way of enhancing any performance whilst barely appearing to be present. Apologies if that sounds pretentious, hopefully the song will explain ... and good luck handling everything, won't be easy.
