    Is Harry Maguire the first?

I guess there might have been some who played for us after having played for England at the tournament?

Michael Dawson was in the 2010 WC Finals squad but didn't play.

Danny Mills was in the 2002 WC Finals squad and played in all 5 games.

Mark Hateley was in the 1986 squad. Emlyn Hughes in 1970. Wilf Mannion and Stan Mortensen in 1950.

So yeah, Harry is the first player with City connections to represent England in the Finals AFTER his spell at City.

Billy Whitehurst SHOULD have played for England :emoticon-0165-muscl

He would have given some of the diving cheating tossers something to think about when he assisted them back onto their feet....

that is true, but you have to take into account foreign referees. like the latins and all the other sneaky underhanded foreigners, they literally adore and worship sneaky underhanded fouling and hate more honest robustness. how many of us leapt out of our chairs and cheered when caniggia was blatantly bodychecked in the 1990 game between cameroon and argentina? i know i did. i respected the openness of the actions of the cameroon player and the way he took responsibility for his actions. yer foreign player won't do that. the only slight downside was that caniggia may have been the only argentinian player ever (with the possible exception of messi) that i had any respect for and didn't despise. now then - onto foreign referees; they love it when gianni foreignio tries to pull a fast one with a blindside kick or punch to the groin, or a laurence olivier style oscar-worthy collapse to the floor clutching his forehead as if he's been shot dead, or at the very least smacked around the temple with a 50 tonne wrecking ball. referees appreciate the whole process, the way it has been hatched, refined, and actioned. they think it's artistic. but the truth, which only we know, is that it's like haggling. it's common, low, rude, despicable, and unworthy, unless perhaps some fat bloke in a dated suit is doing it on one of those antique road trip shows. but al-foreni loves haggling. what pierreluigi ****tireffio detests is honesty, directness, and robustness. billy whitehurst would not last one tackle with today's referees.

I think this is it, none of our other fringe England players, Don Revie, Peter Barnes, Nick Barmby, Ray Parlour or Tom Huddlestone made final world cup squads, Barmby played in key qualifying games in 98 & 02.

Raich Carter may have played in the 34 & 38 finals if England had accepted the invitation?

I think it's a big shame that after a big high point in our history and despite having plenty of players who either came close or played for England just before or after joining us (Davies, Chester, Huddlestone, Livermore, Maguire, Mason, Graham), we've still never had an England international playing at City. And who knows when it could finally happen given our current trajectory.

Davies and Huddlestone should've been in the squad for Brazil 2014.

But he was not a former City player then. EGD Wright might have played in the World Cup if ut had been in existence when he played.

Chester plays for Wales. Danny Graham is not a player of international standard, I accept that dangling whoosh!

Chester opted to play for Wales after playing in the PL for a year with us amid calls for him to make the England squad. At the time I thought he'd been hasty in turning to Wales because he had a decent chance of playing for England eventually, and hadn't actually been fit very much that season when he'd been mooted for a callup.

Feet? Is that before or after they were retrieved from the stand?

It was originally about who played for England at a world Cup after being with us.

More turned up for Franklin's first game for the reserves than the KC holds. How times change.
