Went to the second leg at WHL...Gallus was ****ing brilliant that night. Best performance by a defender I have ever seen
He was such a great signing, especially in that first season. Not many people could play for Arsenal or Chelsea, let alone both, and be welcomed back any time at this football club. He even had a go at our defenders a couple weeks back as it goes
And funnily enough that 0-0 was one of the rare home games I’ve actually missed in the last 15 or so years. I was in Dam for my best mates’ birthday, we found a bar to watch the game and what group of people decided to sit on the table next to us? Russians! And when they realised we were Spurs fans early on they started chanting Pavlyuchenko stuff with us, they went mental when he came on too
Was sitting in the lower shelf by the corner with park lane...the atmosphere was electric all night. Was a great European night.
Gallus produced two of the best defensive performances for Spurs I can remember. That one and the 2nd half against the Goons in the 3-2 win when he was playing on one leg. Top, top pro - who we desperately could do with now.
Couldn't watch that one cos it was my eldests 13th birthday that day. Pretty sure I've bored this place stupid with this story but I love it so am gonna do it again. Her birthday bowling party and pizza meal had to be cancelled cos her mates got ill that week. She was gutted so we booked her a surprise weekend away in Broadstairs. They dump tonnes of sand on the beach there most years to replace the sand washed away. The dumped sand runs the length of the beach and is about 8 ft high. We were two nil down when we arrived in Broadstairs. We took the girls for a drink and cake and as we left the coffee shop a mate texted me to say it was 2-1. There was bugger all internet reception on the beach so had no idea what was happening until my mate sent a text saying "PENALTY"...then nothing for 5 mins until "FOR US" ... following abusive texts from me he told us VDV scored...So me and my girls were jumping around getting weird looks from the locals ... then we got the "KABOUL 3-2" text. Me and my eldest ran down the length of mound of sand shouting "Kaaaaaaabbbboooooouuuuulllllllllll" the looks we got were great...when I don't shave for a few weeks my beard is quite grey and people think I am Muslim. I swear the locals either thought it was a Muslim pray or a terrorist death chant When we got home the next day we watched the full match cos for some reason I recorded it in a mad moment of optimism. Ian Wright was sooooooo funny at the end too
I'd better not repeat my story of the day being a 'guest' of an Arsenal box holder... drowning my sorrows at half time on free Goon champagne and ending up verbally abusing the Goonersaurus... I didn't get a 2nd invite... lol
I would've waited for the second leg before splashing this all over the front page myself... please log in to view this image
A lovely tribute to our JIM, 10 out of 10. I saw the majority of his goals live, both home & away so how lucky was that! God Bless JIM x
Woodgate’s spell as manager of Bournemouth has been extended to the end of the season. Good luck to him, he’s had a reasonable start.
