Those comments from Hoddle were utterly appalling and rightly cost him his job, Dee.
I have seen similar views to yours on twitter.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion on the matter. But quite frankly, I find it baffling and don’t understand what there is to be gained or why there’s any need to now be pointing out the irony of what Hoddle once said, in a situation which now involves him fighting for his life.
His original comments were disgusting, but some of the things I’ve read have also stooped really low and been incredibly insensitive and disrespectful. 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

I agree two wrongs don't make a right, however, he became a person non-grata as far as I am concerned after those comments. I wish him all the best and hope he makes a full recovery, as i would anybody in that situation, but that is as far as I can go.

Completely agree. Criticising what he said is absolutely warranted but trying to twist it into an attack on him, particularly whilst his life is in a precarious position, has no value.

Get well soon Glenn, one of the players that embodies the kind of football Spurs always strived for <ok>

  4. Hoddle made comments which were offensive and frankly ridiculous, but based on a genuine belief system that he had adopted, with more than a little help from the controlling con-artist / faith healer Eileen Drewery.

For that transgression he was unceremoniously hounded out of his job as England manager by Tony Blair and faced years of ridicule and a stalled career as a result.

I think sufficient time has past - and Glenn has moved on as I understand - for this subject not to be raised at such a difficult time for him and his family.

    Get well soon, Hod!

Happy birthday Eric 'the viking' Thorstveldt, 56 today.

I thought someone else might have beaten me to that one.

You are not going to fare well in strong Buddhist cultures
such as Nepal, where physical disability is regarded as
    past-life judgement via the rebirth.

I see our ex-chairman's justifying why so many people initially assumed he was the tycoon throwing around gagging orders to prevent it being known he was the one bullying employees...

Sugar did save the club and I'll always be thankful for that, but he also ran it pretty poorly.
Made himself a mint on the whole Sky deal via Amstrad too, IIRC.
He didn't understand the game. I don't think he does now, to be honest.

Out of ICU. Had 3 stents fitted, conscious and talking - probably making as little sense as usual..

It's remarkable how quickly you can come back from being at the point of death. I drove for a couple of hours to see my dad after his heart stopped 3 times in hospital. When I got in the car, he was dying. When I arrived in the hospital, he was sitting in bed, eating an ice cream.

Modern medicine has come a long way, a couple of decades ago he would have probably been dead. We had a security guy who had a heart attack a joburg airport, they inserted a stent, he was back at work 3 weeks later.

One of the stars of the 2010/11 CL run, Rafael Van der Vaart has announced his retirement. A fabulous footballer and a joy to watch.

Like Jurgen Klinsmann, he wasn't with us that long but what an impact he had!

Good luck in your future endeavours!

  18. 100% <applause>

Rafa ‘got’ Spurs and we ‘got’ him - an all too brief match made in Heaven!
Nothing delighted him more than scoring against the Goons and he did it frequently <laugh>

Loved the guy! Good luck, Rafa! <cheers>

    2 assists and a goal. It's quite a game. Isn't it always?
