I move house on the 13th - the day of the Reading game. I`d planned to travel down on the morning of the 14th, but got a refund since the game was moved. I won`t have Sky connected in time to watch at home. I`ve used up all my brownie points for booking the Skates and Coventry matches next month.
Anyone got a well-proven excuse for suddenly disappearing with son for 4 hours to watch it in the pub, then arriving home half-pissed ?

You could go out for a desperately required DIY part and not knowing the area ask directions in the local pub whereupon you fall into conversation with the locals and not wanting to refuse their hospitatlity.............

I wouldn't get away with it though!

Request an advance on future brownie points, a brownie point overdraft if you will. If this application is declined, simply take an unauthorised brownie point overdraft by sodding off to watch it without telling her!

Well, I would never advocate living on credit! Much safer to make yourself as useful as possible for a few days and if you can encourage your other half to have a night out with her friends before the match, then you may have earned enough goodwill. My strategy was to marry Mrs Fodder, who has never once complained about me going to football or out with friends, she of course expecting the same indulgence of her hobbies and interests. :)

You do realise that your strategy of marrying Mrs Fodder brought you within a couple of letters of Mrs Godders. Let's hope they weren't steamy ones..! ;)

If I suggest that I am off down the pub to watch the football the very lovely you know who would have her coat on in flash and be waiting at the door to join me.

She loves her football and her footballers (well one in particular).

Mrs Fodder (who I am sure is also very lovely) needs her interest in the game to be cultivated very carefully. Maybe a cup of tea and a chat with our very own dear KingslandKate and Fran.

There isn't a woman alive who would not fall in love with Morgan once they have seen and heard him.

The game is on BBC, so you won't have to fix up the Sky.
