I stumbled across something on the net earlier that said the simplified engines had been agreed to now costing less than $1 million asopposed to $2 million . Now they are talking about development costs . Audi want maximum and merc want least .
I may be being clinical, but how many years have we heard that Porsche and Audi want in? I'd be happy if we could keep Honda and maybe lure Ford back in some incarnation. Imagine if Hass wasn't going to become Mazepin racing, and became Haas Ford with Herta driving for them.... I can dream!
I was going to amend my post to remove my last comment as I think it comes across as arrogant. Hopefully it doesn't.
I said imho Audi and Porsche will enter F1 in 2026 , that may be taken as me implying I am in the know .
Oh... no... sorry if I misunderstood or my response came across as dismissive. It's just both of those have been touted for so long now. With Honda bowing out, we need some solid suppliers coming back.
Four and a half years is a long time, no one will have remembered your comment. Lewis will be retired, Lando will be WDC driving for Ferrari while Sainz will be partnered with George, Max will have had one crash too many and wanting to vent his anger, Williams will be beating Mercedes regularly and George will be scratching his head wondering what he did/was thinking jumping into a Mercedes car. Bottas will be winning many Rally races. Lewis will be a Daddy, I will remain silent on who the mother is but have an opinion. X4 racing will be long dead while Nicola Sturgeon will be electioneering wanting a referendum. France will be moaning about the UK and threatening sanctions (see some things never change). The 2026 engine will be Hydrogen powered and hopefully no one will remember these predictions.
The black is more menancing and more fitting given the management style of RBR. White suggests angels, which we know they are not.
So note heard much here about the rumors of Andretti buying a controlling stake in Alfa Romeo and the potential of Herta coming to F1. I'd be excited to see Herta in F1 but gutted to see him leave Indy. He's superb! Wonder if it will actually happen...
Is there any Merc connection to Andretti? Just wondering as Bottas to Alfa Romeo always seemed a slightly strange move.
Don't think so. Not sure if he had some prior knowledge, but if he did then I'm not sure he'd fancy the potential of them bringing in Herta.
On a good day Bottas does beat Lewis so he can't be too shabby, it's just he doesn't have many good days. It would be good to see him get a boost by being out of Lewis's shadow and up against anyone else. Herta might be great but at a guess he would take time to adjust, might be a great pairing as a new team just wants points.
