My old haunt in university years. I couldn't afford to go to Chelsea and their fans were the worst in the country so I'd occasionally go down to Fulham. For full nostalgia, I'd like to go up by train but it'll be some stupid kick off time won't it?
1976/77 season....2-2 draw in the league.....locked in the ground until the police cleared the streets after the match for nearly an hour....and then marched to the nearest underground station.....problem was my car was parked the south side of the Thames....got home to NW Kent rather late. 1979/80 season....FL Cup....after a 2-2 draw at Home Park a mid-week replay at Stamford Bridge.....we won 2-1.....I didn't make the mistake this time of going into the away end....up the top of their newish big stand....a hell of a tumble down if you lost your balance....quite a steep slope. So never lost at Chelsea....???
Ryan Lowe loses 2-1 at Cardiff for the first time. BUT WHAT A LAUGH.....CARDIFF DRAW LIVERPOOL AWAY.....TOUGH LUCK LOWE....not always greener on the otherside is it.
Now now plymborn a bit more grace in victory please. I nearly got the right draw for us. I wanted either one of the biggest or the lowest possible. We got one of the biggest but away yet again when I wanted one down here for a change.
It's nothing to do with more grace in victory....It's about Lowe missing out on playing against his beloved Liverpool at Anfield....he must of cried himself to sleep last night.
Game will be played either Friday or Saturday....because Chelsea will be flying off on Sunday for their Club World Cup Semi-Final. So with Covid, Injuries and such a big match on Wednesday coming up what sort of team will they put out....will they arrogantly put out a youth based team thinking that it will be good enough to beat a little old Div 1 team....who knows.....will they risk any of their stars before such an important Club World semi....lets hope not.
Seems we'll only get 6,000 tickets; that's more or less covered by our full season ticket holders. Last time Chelsea played a home cup tie against lower ranked club, they seem to have got a big attendance: 35k plus I believe. Because EPL season tickets are so expensive at the top clubs and about the only way to get in, those people don't necessarily want to pay again for the early rounds of the FA Cup. I suppose Chelsea must sell those games cheaply - one adult brings one child free, that sort of thing, and good on them if they do. But a shame for us: we could probably sell 3 or 4 times the 6,000.
Chelsea have a Club World Cup semi-final in the UAE on Tuesday, so our FA Cup semi-final is likely to be either on Friday evening or Saturday lunchtime.
Apparently it's "on the red button". I've got one of those on my remote but I'm scared to press it in case I start a nuclear war or something having launched a missile. You need to suffer for the cause sometimes BC. My advice would be to have an all night party and not go to bed at all.
