The FA are considering making changes to the FA Cup.

They are planning to possibly make the 4th & 5th rounds midweek fixtures and also doing away with them having replays if drawn.....the thinking is to try and squeeze in a winter break.

Here we go again....thinking of the Premiership Clubs before anyone else.

    This means.....

1.....Losing the glamour of the smaller clubs battling through to the latter stages of this competition, the lucrative possibility of a smaller club drawing at home and a financial reward of a big away match against one of the big boys.......this helps the smaller clubs to balance their books and give their fans the experience of visiting a big stadium.

2.....4th & 5th round matches decided on the day might cut the workload down for Premier clubs but will financially hurt smaller clubs whose day in the sun would be done away with.

3.....Mid-week games would make it difficult for away fans to travel any distance without their fans having to make sacrifices....up for the Cup would not be quite the same, it's a Saturday break from the league programme and a chance of glory.

4.....Smaller clubs obviously don't have the same workload by round 4 or 5 and a good Cup run would not be so financially rewarding without replays.

5.....We have already had changes to the League Cup with big clubs muscling in with their U21 teams entering.

What will they think of next to undermine the more grass roots game that locals enjoy and seeing their team involved with ?.....smaller clubs do not need winter breaks....if bigger teams with their larger playing staff cannot cope than tough luck......swings and roundabouts come to mind........don't they have most of the cake already.
