Phew indeed. Seems we deserved to win but should have pressed home a big advantage in the 1st half.

Had we done that, we could have taken a couple who play every week off. Sarcevic would have been one: plays that high energy game and has suffered injuries. Carey off and Lamerias on would have been another: Carey gets some rough treatment and is on 5 bookings. As it is, Ness limped off, which is bad news as the return of the Ness, Fox and Sarcevic trio in midfield has coincided with the uptick in our form.

Still, fair result overall I think.

There was only ever going to be one winner today and that was as it turned out Argyle. They were not in the game for most of it and spent their time chasing after the ball. When they had it they wasted as much time as possible from the first goal kick after a couple of minutes. Clearly they came for a 0 - 0. We did everything but score and once again had three very good appeals for penalties turned down. What we have to do to get a penalty I just don't know. I am not sure how the score remained 0 - 0 for as long as it did because we were so far on top it was a bit embarrassing. But, to win games you have to put at least one away and it was a very long time coming.

I thought one or two of the ARgyle players were not on their game today even if none of them were exactly terrible. Moore was not all that brilliant and gave the ball away a fair few times. Grant also wasn't at the races on occasions and failed to go past players as often as he perhaps should have. So much so that I think Lameiras should have been on in his place much sooner than he came on. Once again when introduced the tone changed and Argyle looked much brighter. The goal was well taken and the players were obviously chuffed. The long extra time could have been for the time wasting from Stevenage but was for a nasty injury to one of their's. Not sure exactly what occured but the players head and Songo's leg combined quite hard and the man was stretchered off after a lengthy delay. No fault to Songo and it was him who got a free kick out of it. Referee was reasonable today but he did bottle all of the important decisions. We won which is all that matters and we progress for now.

 

Don't have to pay?! how very dare you- every day I pay through blood sweat and occasional tears. Never worked so hard in my life (though I suppose i spent 35 years in the RN) 6 days a week and at least 60 hours a week...plus all the out of hours stuff. I don't look so miserable for no reason. Having said that, it is probably the best job in the world!
