I doubt we'd get any sympathy if we were going bust, there are supposed to be loans via the bailout but the amounts won't cover too much of the losses. We're fortunate to have a vastly reduced wage bill but I can't see any team beating their FFP limits this season so basically it will be unlikely any team will be penalised. Whether the EFL would waive the payment for this and last season is possible but their determination to nail us on this suggests that won't be happening...
I see WRDCFC have got away with it. Wycombe branding them 'systematic cheating'. 100k fine. Pathetic. If I was TF, I'd be fuming at that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57701348
I think it is disgusting. However they have lost a couple of players so far in Marriot and Waghorn and hopefully a few more will leave. I think that Wycombe chairman will consider a legal challenge but I would have thought the EFL would have explored all areas...
Yes and no. They still have to re,-present their last 3 years accounts...and this time do them correctly... They are already late on last year's... and will be trouble over that. They sold pride park about 3 years ago ..and so the profit from the sale will be running out of the FFP calculation soon..and so they will be in **** all over again. I also saw that the EFL have voted to close the selling your ground at a profit loop hole starting from yesterday
It’s all bull$hit. Nothing happens from this lot (EFL). It’s all talk and bluster which then fades away as everyone forgets it. Farcical.
Grealish to Citeh for £100 mill, possibly to be followed by Kane (estimated between £120 and £150 mill) Does FFP still exist? Whilst Citeh could potentially off set the costs against players leaving, this does leave a strange taste in the mouth. If you add into this the potential salaries for these two, I doubt whether you would get much change from a weekly salary (combined for each) of £500mill. Sterling is supposed to be on £300k per week as is De Bryne. Maybe my maths isnt as good as it should be, maybe I should have enrolled on the Nick Leeson school of accounting but it would appear to me that PPF is dead in the water.....and only applies to the EFL?
Couldn’t agree more. We’re all, as fans, played for mugs. I’m not against the concept of managing costs - F1 is trying, American football and hockey has rules to help manage costs. It’s not a bad thing at all, and would hopefully save clubs. But at least make it a fair playing field. The gulf between EPL top six or so is bad enough, without then letting them flout any form of FFP.
sorry to drag this up again: If Barcelona cannot afford Messi, and the outgoings on salary are 110 % of their income, then surely they are bankrupt and shpuld not be attempting to go in for this now defunked super league Even PSG must struggle to meet FFP rules.
… I thought flouting FFP was a multi-million pound fine that cripples your club for five years. It really works well.
I think this is a points deduction for not preparing their accounts correctly. (Inappropriate use of amelioration of their players value). I think they got away with the FFP charge over their stadium sale I think, and also they had a 3 point deduction (suspended) on their card due to not paying their players last December. Also they are under a heavy transfer embargo.
Should’ve been done last season & Gareth’s Wycombe would’ve stayed up! Wonder what he’s thinking or saying about it
Derby appear to be a slightly better team this year and are likely to get out of it I'd say, lucky it was left a while. Still I'd love it...
Mmm.....quite a challenge having to go to minus 2 points having played a few already. I reckon they may be doomed.
