there are 2 i like clock stops when ball leaves the field , that will stop time wasting 5 min sin bin for yellow, then you will need punishment for diving, just Like the Italians did
Problem is you can’t stop the clock unless you shorten the half. Some games would go on all night! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The cheating annoys me but as for diving I’ve always said matches should be reviewed after and anyone obviously taking a dive should be banned for a match. Do it again and it’s two matches etc. It’s not hard to stamp out really.
****ing horrendous. I have always wanted a clearer way of sortkng injury time so stopping the clock during the game (rugby union for example) could work?
Standard tactic when you want change is to throw out a shopping list worth and then "compromise" down to one or two. The concept of sin bin is an interesting one but I'm not sure that 5 minutes is at all worthwhile especially given some of the time wasting that we see in L1
All dreadful, just another way of ruining something by 'improving' it ... ... so glad I saw football when it was life changing. These days it just keeps changing.
Aye, there is some Opta stats in a reply on that tweet that says about 60 in average so I suppose that's where they get the 2 x 30min halves from. Still sounds crap though imo.
think sky did this a few years back, pretty sure it averaged around 30-35 minutes (hope that was each half mind, may not have been). after watching the 66 world cup final it was great to see banks bounce the ball once or twice then throw it upfield, the entire team then went on the attack, this was going on during extra time when 3-2 up...compare that to todays games where the keeper will throw himself to the ground after an easy take, somehow manage to kill several seconds standing back up, will walk from one side of his area to the other changing his mind again and again, then give the ball to a defender and they then just play 'passy' around the back 5, should an attacker get near them they fall over at the slightest touch and this will continue till the whistle goes. was there not a time limit on how long the keeper could hold the ball along with a limited amount of steps they could take?...when it is your team doing it we call it great game management, when on the recieving end it sux.
Could they change it so much that somehow the 'old' football could be reinvented - nee VAR, nee gloves for keepers, 90 minutes for a game, throw ins, nee sin bins etc. How much can they change it before it's not legally football anymore? Could we end up with a similar situation to rugby union and rugby league with different formats?
aye, there has been much messing about, none of it has ever made the game better...remember before the world cup was held in the good 'ol U.S. of A. they wanted 4 quarters and bigger goals, there were other 'requests' but thankfully none made it, one may have been similar to that american handball they all like over there.
No limit on time or total number of steps but had to bounce the ball at least once every 4 steps and didn't have the protection from someone nipping in and kicking it from his bouncing it.
was it four, i seem to recall six and have a memory of shouting at shearer on MOTD as he would count the seconds by putting his hand in the air and raising a finger each second, then screaming at the ref if he reached six (funny though, can never remember him using both hands )
I think it's a great idea for 12 or 13 lads having a kick about on Barnes Park. F##k me, what a rancid idea.
