Agreed LBA. But your post should be addressed to Ellewoods. As for films I've already made two endorsements.
Why? You've ignored the rules, carried it on and posted the most political thing in the thread. And his was a response to me, so if you want LBIA to address it at anyone, it's me. Just because someone else mentioned the p word doesn't mean you can get involved and then try to pass the blame onto someone else like a 5 year old would do.
Das Boot is my favourite war film. LUFTWASSERBOMBEN!!! I get bored of watching war films with USA bias to be honest although I might give the one mentioned here a go
What kind of movies do you like? I am sure we can come up with a bunch of movies you havent seen if we know what genre you are looking for.
It would still be good to know what kind of movies you like but I am going out soon so I thought I would put up a couple maybe you hadnt seen. A really good Japanese film A really good noir science fiction film
A bit like with my music Elle I like a wide range of films, I particularly like thrillers but I also like war/conflict films and documentary type films. I do like a good comedy as long as it has a decent storyline, for example Planes, Trains...RIP John Candy. Horrors would also be on my list, as would scifi, again as long as you can immerse yourself into a believable storyline. My first film seen at the cinema was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, it lived long in my memory, as did my next film seen, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Jack Nicholson, what an actor!
Talking of drink............... First saw Heidleberg in 1955 traveling from Frankfurt to Munich on a school trip. Our final stop was in a hotel at a place south of Munich called Tutzing, next to Starnberger See.( Starnberg Lake) There aged 16(going on 17) , together with 2 other prefects, I drank a few Steins of lager following a couple of glasses of wine, and we all finished legless. All the drink was paid for by a local German chap who after our evening meal, received permission from the teacher in charge to chat with us about the area we lived in England. It was the first time all 3 of us had drunk to excess. One guy was helped to his bed and he just slept it off. The other was violently sick before passing out on his bed and I was just noisy and silly. I believe I woke the whole place up before being put to bed by a teacher. A good early lesson on the ways alcohol can affect people!
Midnight Cowboy is always worth watching if you haven't seen it, am always surprised that a lot of people haven't actually watched it.
The Revenant had it's first Oscar screenings last night, and looking at the reaction, DiCaprio might finally win a bloody Oscar. Tom Hardy too. I hope it is as good as it sounds, it is my most anticipated film at the moment (yes, more than Star Wars). Too bad have to wait until January 15 in the UK, whereas it comes out on Christmas Day in the USA. (Thought it made more sense to carry this thread on than start a new one)
The most recent film I watched was Copenhagen on Putlocker. I liked it. It's got Gethin Anthony (played Renly Baratheon in Game of Thrones) and a Danish actress called Frederikke Dahl Hansen in it. It's an indie film so don't expect Hollywood-style effects but the plot is really interesting.
