When are the EFL going to make a decision about the remainder of the season, does anybody know. I suspect that the premiership will complete, because they have to so that they get their TV money but the championship? Is it worth it to get the small amount of TV money?
The EFL vote is on June 1st. Could be the pre are playing it smart. The first two games to be played means all teams have played the same number of games if something goes wrong and they can't finish the season.
10 positive Covid results from first round of championship tests out of 1100 odd. Doesn’t sound great to me
I've just found this on the EFL site - https://www.efl.com/news/2020/may/efl-statement-covid-19-test-results3/
As Fulham are the nearest rivals I’m hoping that messes up their preparation for a restart, Cardiff too, both who we need to face early on
It seems players who have tested negative and have resumed training are stopping off for shopping on their way home... " I went food shopping whilst still in my full kit, as I did on Friday straight after training " (James Chester of Stoke City). And from a player who has now tested positive... " I've done the usual things like going to the supermarket and going to the petrol station to fill the car up. I've been just as careful as before on lockdown but it seems to be a shopping trip where I've caught it " (Arron Ramsay of Bournemouth). How this can be allowed to happen I've no idea, it massivley increases the chances of an outbreak at a club and then that will be that as far as this season is concerned. Is it really that difficult to get someone to deliver the groceries to their doors for the next 10 weeks or so ?
EFL board agreed at it's 27th May meeting to continue with it's proposal to alter EFL regulations in event of the curtailment of the 2019/20 season. If passed this would allow the clubs in each division to decide whether to resume or curtail the current season. However all the clubs have until 2pm on 2nd June to submit any counter proposals. Should alternative proposals be submitted they will be considered along with the boards proposal at the next meeting of all the EFL clubs on 8th June. Seems it's not as cut and dried as many people thought and we can expect any number of counter proposals from clubs who will be relegated or miss out on the play offs should the season not resume. For example; What if a club proposes no relegation across all divisions and 51% of the 71 EFL clubs vote for that regulation change. That would be a game changer and the PL would likely follow suit leaving the unanswered question of promotions (or not) to be decided.
That's been taken care of by the FA. They've already announced that they will use their golden share to ensure that promotion & relegation takes place.
That position might change if the EFL were to vote to veto relegation. As I said any new proposals have to be submitted to the EFL board by 2pm Tuesday...watch this space.
Don't believe so. Dealing with all these proposals & counter-proposals were part of what the golden share was put in place for. Then again, who knows. Money talks louder than most things.
