I listened to a Saints podcast that described the two attacking midfielders in Ralph's formation as floating 10s and i'm interested to find out who fans would choose as the first choices for both positions.
The position also requires regular goals and assists, so for that reason I still think Stu and Theo are our best options at the moment, at least until we bring Joey Veerman in.
Armstrong is a definite starter for me but then the other position is completely up for grabs. Depends who's in the best form out of the 3.
Not enough love for Moussa in this thread. I think right now and out of recent performance it’s still Redmond and Armstrong. Moussa has some stuff though. He works hard defensively and he’s clearly a talented player. Feel like he’s going to push Redmond out the way this year. Theo is good. Solid and works hard but I still think of him as the fourth option for the 10s and the third option up front.
I think that he would be one of my picks at the start of last season but since his injury and suspension he hasn't really kicked on but he has certainly got talent and time on his side.
Exactly this, for me too. Hopefully redders can find his best form again, he's been off the boil a bit recently. He'd be my first pick though, based on how well he works with bertrand. We are lucky to have so many good options though. Saints aren't often in such a strong position!
Normally I'd say it Armstrong + 1 other. Bit he has looked a but off in recent weeks, I cant quite figure out why though. If all were fit I would start Redmond & Walcott against Sheff Utd. I expect It will be Armstrong and Redmond however.
Stuart Armstrong tested positive early October there may be some affect, lots not yet known about CV.
Indeed. He was a lot better in the second half at Brighton, so hopefully he’s getting back to 109% fitness again. Same will be true of Redmond, who has been out for a while, and dare I say it, a certain Daniel William John Ings probably wasn’t at his absolute peak on Monday either.
Moussa is still pretty much an unknown quantity and only 22. His goals at Brighton and Sheffield United, last season, showed what he is capable of, and maybe raised the expectations of the fans a little bit too high. He hasn’t had much luck with injuries, so maybe not often been at peak fitness to push on and make the position his. Personally, I would like to see him be more decisive on the ball, as in passing sooner or going past his man before someone arrives to double up, leading to him being dispossessed.
Stuey needs to up his game for me. I think he’s been a little off his previous high standards for a few games now. That’s being ultra critical, but my armchair says I can be. On best form, I agree though. Stuey is in. All a little irrelevant as this game is about more than 11, as a wise spectacled man said once.
